The title. The constant repetition as though Mary is a 3 year old child.
It’s insulting and demeaning too. Ooo ooo ooo.
Then there is the marginal musicianship of most performances of this thing to which I have been subjected. The rhyming and cadence are what I would expect from a 5th grade group poetry project.
You go ahead and like it all you like. Just don’t play it for me, I’ll walk away.
Amen!
The contemplative questions are not answered in the other sones or scriptures quoted.
The shallow piety that pops up on FR from time to time is not impressive.
I headed straight to youtube to listen to it, again. They do a great version!
Ok.
Thanks.
Bye.
Because she was a normal human girl!
The author is after something else.
Boring ... comes around every year.
I haven’t noticed, this year, the folks with the screeds against celebrating Jesus’s birth on December 25. Maybe they lost interest.
Well, bye.
Only on free republic can folks be nasty about a well intended Christmas song
I swunny
Its embarrassing
On Free Republic, we’re just discussing articles from other sites where people were nasty about a well-intentioned Christmas song. It’s the whole Internet, full of garbage.
Free Republic has always been this way the scold the only redeeming factor is that now that theirs competitors Breitbart is worse and their moderation is Looney Tunes for instance if you write the words Jew or savage you get reviewed
Free Republic is still the best fourm tbut there are a lot of unhappy people here
And we have lost so many posters
A lot of important articles do not find her way here where is the used to always be posted here
Another weird thing about Breitbart forum is if you say you post on free republic the yank your post
Mary replies
Yes I know
For the heavenly angels
They told me so
I see it differently, in that they are not quizzing her like a 3 year old, it is more like did she know that she bore the son of God and that he will bring salvation to mankind. You are being far too critical regarding something that is really quite benign. I mean after all it's only a song, that sings the praises of Jesus. Mankind is known for their curiosity, and the song uses that reality as a lead in only, in order to sing the praises of Jesus.
I see your argument as equally without standing as those who take the metoo attitude that it implies God raped Mary and saddled her with an unwanted pregnancy (though the latter is far more egregious). Both though are reading way too much into a song that was designed to sing the praises of Jesus, in my opinion. One because of religious convictions, and one because they are completely devoid of any religious convictions, who want to stamp out all religions. In no way does it even deserve the scrutiny, again in my opinion, because it is merely a song.
Besides that the version I provided was sang very beautifully. I was meriting the song on its musical quality, rather than based on any religious beliefs I hold as true.
I love Rascal Flatts’ version of it.

I haven’t considered it a Christmas song. But with Netflix blaspheming the Lord and Merry Christmas barely being spoken, I never thought anyone would criticize such a beautiful song.
Why, indeed, pick on a cute little tune with a Christian message when "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer," "Santa, Baby" and "All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth"--none of which are the least bit biblically literate--are jarring our ears?
There is nothing in the bible that indicates Mary knew the answers to the questions in the song...
Nice words...Not a very catchy tune...
The reaction would be best understood by the author likely being a Catholic worshiper.
In the light of which questions that could be asked in the song might be,
Mary, did you know,
Many will pray to you, reciting a sacred Psalter?
Mary, did you know,
That they will plead to you, please save each son and daughter?
Mary, did you know,
That they will ascribe to you things quite very new?
That attributes unique to God almighty,
will soon be said of you?
Mary, did you know,
they will say "all but unlimited power" is in thy hand?
And so to their Mary will look the eyes of many a man?
Mary did you know,
That they will say demons are fearful of your might rod;
And that your requests are as commands even to almighty God?
Mary, did you know,
it will be said, by far more than just a few;
That as Queen of Heaven all grace is dispensed thru you?
And that you suffered for our sins, and was raised bodily,
that salvation is more quickly obtained by calling on thee?
No, Mary you do not know
All this exalting of a mortal far above that which is written;
But whom you will reprove as part of the judgment in Heaven,
For directing men to look to a demigoddess savior of man,
Rather than directly to your creator yet child, the Great I Am.
Has anyone written a treatise on the Theological Errors in Jingle Bells.
Its just a song. Nobodys soul is in danger by singing it.
Frankly its a really good song.
It’s a pretty song. Not among my favorites, but a lot of people like it. Some people have too much time on their hands.
