Rocketman: Vatican funded explicit film of Elton John’s life

The biographical film about Sir Elton John, which contains a gay sex scene, was partly financed by an investment fund backed by the Vatican, an Italian newspaper has reported.

The use of money donated by Roman Catholics to help to fund Rocketman emerged during a Vatican inquiry into where the cash, which is officially used for good works, has been invested.

Researchers were looking into the Vatican secretariat of state’s backing of Centurion Global Fund, the Malta-based company that invested €1 million in the film’s production, Corriere della Sera reported

Heh, Elton’s sex life would probably be tame when compared to some of those Vatican Jesuits.

Remember that the prime difference between Jesuits and Protestants is that the Protestant admits that they are not Catholic.

It’s not good but there’s enough REALLY WRONG things going on besides 1 million from one fund going towards a 50 million dollar budget movie.

A person’s gotta be REALLY BORED with their lives to print this article.

It’s WRONG.

How much does the church have invested and how often does this happen.

To the thread poster, here’s 5 bucks. Buy a life.

I saw the movie and it seemed like a pretty honest version of Elton John's life, from what I know of it anyway. But one thing bothered me: In an early scene, Reg Dwight (the future Elton John) is playing in a band called: 'Blues incorporated.'

That was a real band at the time, led by Long John Baldry, a well known brit blues singer, who was known to be gay.

Later in the movie there is a scene where Reg Dwight picks a new name and the implication is that he got 'John' from John Lennon. Truth is he got the name from Long John Baldry.

So why the omission? LJB passed away some years ago, so no harm would have been done. Maybe there was bad blood between the two of them?

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Will it be used as a training film for priests?

Yeah. The writer didn’t bother to get his facts straight. Movies seldom do.

No thanks, I already have a life and it seems to be less bitter than yours.

Get your head out of the "sand".

Elton John was the advisor on the movie. I doubt it that it was a simple mistake.

Can the pope be impeached?

If not, he should be recalled.

AND/or investigated as a plant for the devil.

In addition to the other errors covered in the comments to this linked tweet, I would just want to mention that none of it has anything to do with Natural Law.

Natural Law --- unlike what some misinformed people think --- does not mean that human behavior can or ought to be modeled on the behavior observed in animals in the wild (or barnyard livestock for that matter.)

Natural Law means what can be apprehended by human reason as appropriate to virtuous and rational beings, and necessary to human flourishing across the generations, the centuries and the cultures.

What the red-assed baboon does with his ass or other body parts is of no direct relevance to Natural Law as a way of reasoning about human ethical norms.

I just wanted to mention that before the discussion goes too far....
