ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE - Pope Francis said Tuesday that the latest round of financial scandal at the Vatican is actually a success story, because the situation was revealed thanks to an internal Vatican probe, which he said demonstrates that new controls are working.
The pontiff also called both owning and deploying nuclear weapons immoral, saying that point should be added to the Catholic catechism, and suggested that it might be time to re-think the veto power wielded by a handful of countries in the United Nations Security Council.
His comments came during an airborne news conference on the return flight to Rome from his Nov. 19-26 trip to Thailand and Japan.
Vatican financial scandals
There is corruption, Francis conceded when asked about a recent scandal pivoting on the purchase of a former Harrods warehouse in Londons tony Chelsea neighborhood by the Vaticans Secretary of State, using funds from the annual Peters Pence collection presented as a way to support papal charities.
Initially around $220 million was spent acquiring a share of the property, and later the Secretariat of State attempted to lay out another $170 million to buy it outright. According to the Italian magazine LEspresso, the Vatican was overcharged for the operation by several Italian middlemen.
Five Vatican employees were suspended following a raid by the Vatican gendarmes on Oct. 1 of their offices, including members of the Secretariat of State and the director of the Vaticans Financial Authority (AIF). Two weeks later, Domenico Giani, the Vaticans longtime security chief and Franciss personal bodyguard, resigned over the leak of the document related to a magistrates investigation of the deal.
During the hour-long press conference, Francis said that the five Vatican officials suspected of corruption will soon be questioned by the promoter of justice, if the process hasnt actually started......

I’m trying to keep up with the changes but he lost me with the “save the whales” as part of the Catechism.
He’s Communist/Globalist Social Engineer. Not a Pope.
Bergoglio leads the low IQ wing of the body Catholic.
Maybe he should pay more attention to things within his job description.
Oh my Jesus, forgives our sins....
What about “save baby Harp Seals” and ‘don’t kill the sacred Snail Darter’?
A very conservative Catholic I know told me that most Liberal Catholics love this “Pope”. She is disgusted.
Didnt Paul and the apostles rail against this????
This power mad fool seems to believe that the catechism is a way of unilaterally changing doctrine. Its not. Its just a compendium of established doctrine, not whatever the Pope of the moment wants to stick in there.
Stay the F out of politics, Frannie. Its not your lane, boy.

So much for financial reforms working. As far as adding an anti-nuke stance to the catechism, a generic opposition to nuclear proliferation that reflects Soviet propaganda against John Foster Dulles's massive retaliation policy is already in there (2315, 2329)--as if nuclear debates were locked in the 1950s--but Bergolio goes a step beyond this to propose an absolute ban as he did with capital punishment, once again confusing his ill-informed opinions on prudential matters with doctrine. One has to wonder if he ever actually read the catechism when he wasn't busy uncritically swallowing liberation theology.
