Mormon theology is crazier than Muslim theology.
I recall a story from Saudi Arabia. A reformist Imam was invited to a traditional Imam’s house. When he arrived the traditional Imam shot him dead. This was ruled legal because Islam can not be reformed. The penalty for doing so is death. It can be administered by anyone who feels he is righteous and correct in his beliefs. (In practice, to get away with this you have to have more followers than the other guy and they have to be more militant. However, if it’s not Imam to Imam any Muslim can kill any nonMuslim for a variety of reasons and this too is “legal” per Sharia.)
An example of Sharia law in practice is honor killings.
the complexities of the theologies are stunning but
one thing’s for certain, we don’t need a bunch of Moslem terroristas running loose in USA
Joseph Smith praised Mohammed and what he called the “Alcoran”.
I find many similarities. They are both anti-Christian cults, they worship a charismatic founder, are based upon a false book that demands worship of a false god, regard one place on Earth as sacred above all others, and practice control freakery that governs every aspect of life down to one’s clothing.
One important difference: Mormons are not known for beheading those who leave their cult.
They also shave closer.
They are both very interested in the stars.
“Allah” is actually a moon god originally known as “Nana” or “Sin” and the Mormons believe that their god came from a planet known as “Kolob”.
Do not be unequally yoked.
... oh $hit!
The religions are starting to come together!
(Think Pope, Muslim, Jewish, Amazon... all unified.
“But the one who endures to the end will be saved.”
“One important difference: Mormons are not known for beheading those who leave their cult.”
Thank you. I was about to ‘make it personal’ over the untruths about my Denomination.
It is ok to talk about the differences, but the made up lies bother me.
I’m really ignorant about this, but how can ‘God’ come from a ‘planet’?
I thought God *created* planets...and they came out of HIM.
Joseph Smith and Mad Mo made up their religions for the same reason: more p*ssy.
Well....Mormons believe that their god, who has a body of flesh & bones like us (because he started out as a human), lives on a planet NEAR to Star Kolob.
Speaking of names, the Book of Mormon has some that are a real hoot: Mosiah, Alma, Ether, Coriantumr, Gidgiddonah, Kumenonhi, Rameumptom, Sheum, Zarahemla, etc.
;^)
They believe God used to be a man. From Kolob.
Lurkin, you employ Occam’s Razor like it’s the world’s sharpest scalpel!
Hm, yes, that is the correct portion that I remember. Thank you.
I have not checked back to these items in years.
Let us see . . . there are also the verses and whole chapters of Isaiah lifted and placed verbatim into the Book of Mormon, very interesting . . .
The saddest item here is that Mormonism is a works-based religion, full of mostly extremely nice, kind, clean, hardworking, moral people who think that they will get to heaven by working for it.
The Bible says otherwise.
