ELCA, the apostate Lutheran church. Have nothing to do with the works of darkness, but rather oppose them.

The LCMS, the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, are conservative, and have nothing to do with this fiasco. These other wacko leftist Lutherans give all Lutherans a bad name.

The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Southampton PA is GOSPEL FREE. A funeral service I attended there was nothing less than weird and full of strange ceremony.

NO THANKS.

I didn't see a dead Jesus. Somebody explain?

The crucifix, maybe?

Don't some (or maybe all?) Protestants object to the crucifix as a statue of Christ on the cross?

I know Lutherans love “Summer Sausage” but this is ridiculous.

"I'm sure it's not the Missouri Synod, however."

Boy, howdy. The Missouri Synod is just barely tolerant of the Papists...

Not all Protestants object to a crucifix. The Protestant churches that retained the most practices from Catholicism (Anglican, Lutheran) tend to favor or at least be okay about crucifixes - the idea is it reminds people of Christ’s suffering and sacrifice. The Reformed and the less liturgical churches (Baptists, non-denominational) tend to favor a plain cross over a crucifix or they shun having a crucifix altogether - the idea is “Christ is off the cross now.”

I hadn't been aware that this quirky reaction was so widespread.

It took me about one minute on Google to find these excerpts from the writings of Martin Luther in favor of crucifixes and holy images.

He corrects the iconoclasts temperately and justly.

Undoubtedly, this is an apostate ELCA, which is neither Christian or Lutheran. The LCMS has nothing to do with the ELCA.

This is about as insane as a large homo ‘church’ in Dallas hosting a blasphemous play depicting Jesus as a homosexual involved sexually with his disciples after Tarleton State University rejected a production of “Corpus Christi” on that campus due to local outrage by sane residents.

It’s easy to spot the liberal “churches” as they all belong to the National Council of Churces.

Thanks for the explanation. Now it all makes sense:

the idea is “Christ is off the cross now.”

I remember hearing that explanation somewhere once.

I'm a Roman Catholic (albeit not a perfect one). But, where we live, the Protestant churches are more supportive of homeschooling. So, for many years, my children and I spent most of our weekdays with homeschool groups in Protestant church facilities. Most of those churches were Baptist, and I never saw any crucifixes there.

Literally. Children have always been a central part of the “gay agenda”. Ultimately they want pedophilia to be normalized in society.

Wilhelm Tell gives a good explanation in Post #50 about why some denominations use the crucifix and others don’t:

https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/religion/3789997/posts?page=50#50

He mentioned that Baptists don’t use a crucifix (which probably explains why I’ve never seen a crucifix in all the Baptist churches we’ve been in).

>> The church is the body of the faithful, those justified by faith not works. <<

Ah, so "the church" doesn't show up until the 1600s, when Martin Luther starts pushing his "faith alone" stuff.

And now there are drag queens doing "story time" over at "the church". Well, the one that Luther started, anyway.
