Comes days after news that Abp. Sartain approved funeral Mass for gay shaman who committed suicide

SEATTLE (ChurchMilitant.com) - Days after news broke that Abp. J. Peter Sartain approved the funeral Mass of a same-sex married shaman who committed suicide, the Vatican has announced his resignation for health reasons.

The new archbishop of Seattle, Washington will be Abp. Paul Etienne, named co-adjutor in April after Sartain requested help for spinal problems he was suffering. Sartain submitted his resignation letter in September last year.

Archbishop Christophe Pierre, papal nuncio to the United States, announced Sartain's resignation and replacement on Sept. 3 in Washington, D.C.

The case of Robert Fuller garnered national media attention last week after an Associated Press story revealed Jesuit priest Fr. Quentin Dupont gave Fuller a final blessing on May 5 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Seattle, only days before he threw a suicide party and killed himself, surrounded by parishioners, including the parish choir, which performed at his farewell party.

Fuller was a longtime parishioner at St. Therese, an "inclusive" parish, where Fuller was well known as an active homosexual who indulged in paganism and who promoted euthanasia and assisted suicide. A photo of the May 5 blessing shows Fuller surrounded by first communicants and tearful parishioners, who were aware of his months-long plan to kill himself.

Etienne is good—at least he was good when initially chosen and very good in Wyoming, and I have no reason to think he has gone over to the dark side.

This retirement appears long planned based on the info of this story. Sort of hard to pin on a “scandal” which it is not.

Just because you disagree with something, does not make it a scandal.

Sounds like that entire parish needs an exorcism.

My take, guy’s health likely influenced him into make some bad calls, sure he owns those anyway, but it might have been less awful if Seattle had a healthy Archbishop.

Notice how Rome has moved quickly in light of these scandals. The new Archbishop just got in there as coadjutor a little over 3 months ago and He’s now running the whole show! You folks in Seattle pray for him.

It was Jorge Bergoglio who had suddenly accepted the resignation days after the news of Sartain’s approval of the funeral. This after sitting on Sartain’s letter of resignation for almost a year.

It’s not a coincidence. Neither was it a coincidence that Jorge sat on Donna Wuerl’s letter of resignation for over three years before suddenly accepting it when all hell broke loose about Donna’s cover-ups of homosexuals.

It’s called damage control.

We lost Msgn. Muggenborg to Seattle last year. A really good guy. Seems like they have a lot of work up north.

Satan never sleeps.

Why is the sin of homosexuality so prevalent in the Catholic Church. Is because they don’t get Nun?

Sad to see Sartain go. He was a good Archbishop. I had not indication of his spinal problems.

Actually the ratio of abuse in homes, schools and non-Catholic churches is much higher. The Catholic Church is the lowest on the list.

I confirm that Etienne is good. He was our Archbishop before he was moved to Seattle.

Good arch bishop, eh??? Well I'd like to know what a bad one is...

In 2014 Sartain was criticized for allowing the funeral Mass of a homosexual priest who had admitted to abusing as many as 10 boys. His funeral Mass was concelebrated by 20 priests of the archdiocese.

You have an obvious queer, pedo protecting arch bishop and 20 homo priests (who show up...God knows how many more who didn't) celebrating a queer pedophile priest...And you people boast that your religion is the Body of Christ...(spit !!!)

And the gates of Hell will not prevail??? You'd better look again because that scripture clearly was not meant for your Church...

Can we get things rolling here and see the church resigning all of its perverted clergy, from the top down? They really do need to clean house.

Maybe so, and I would dispute the stat, but just like a bad cop tarnishes the rest, so do homosexual clergy tarnish all clergy.
