So, yesterday morning, I saw my friend Thaddeus getting into the passenger side of the car, as his wife Judy got into the driver's seat. Thad was struggling with a cane and having a difficult time getting into the car.
"Thad, you don't look well," I said. "Have you been ill?"
Thad pointed down to his foot which was twice its normal size and bright purple. I was aghast.
"Are you going to the hospital now?" I asked.
"Right after I play my gig for the Fourth of July Celebration" he said (Thad is an awesome Blues guitarist)
I was aghast. "What? You should be going to the ER RIGHT NOW!"
Judy was practically in tears, and said "That's Thad for ya."
Anyway, Thad did the gig and was immediately admitted to the hospital directly after. It seems that he has a blood disorder that is like an auto-immune disease.
I love these folks, even though I just met them a few years ago when I moved into the community. Thad and I often have played together, and Judy has the most beautiful tiny garden in the trailer park. She has inspired me to work in my own garden and has given me a lot of perennial plants to speed up the process. They are very poor, but incredibly generous, open-hearted people.
I told them I would pray for Thad, and ask that you would join me in doing so.

Dear God, thank you for the gift of Thad and his wife, for all the things they have done that bring people joy. Please heal Thad and hold this couple in the palm of Your hand. Holy Spirit, please fill their souls with faith. Amen.

"The show must go on" may smack of selfishness. But those who've been in Thad's situation, understand that it's not about them. As Pete Townshend said, “People say, "You've gotta go on, man, otherwise all those kids, they'll be finished, they'll have nothing to live for."
Thad has done his job. Now it is time for us, the audience of the world, who benefit from this love, to follow suit. As lifted from here:
