Financial prosperity is the downfall of many, many people. A good portion of them divorce their spouses. They become inveigled with rank materialism. They increasingly push God out of their lives. Children of such people become spoiled and entitled brats.

It took me a long time to get most of this “prosperity” thinking out of my head. It’s always there to one degree or another, but it is ever shrinking.

The prosperity as described in the bible is all about attitude. It’s how one can be in the joy of the Lord, yet also be in prison.

I guess I don’t hate them either. But I come mighty close to hating them. I was flipping channels early one morning and came across the Inspiration Today Camp Meeting show. It’s run by David Cerullo and his sidekick Mike Murdock.

Murdock was saying that the only way G_d will bless you is if you first give up $1000 of your money. And to who? The sick? The poor? No, give it to the Inspiration Today Camp Meeting show.

But then it got worse. Murdock said if you don’t have the $1000, put it on your credit card. Do it now.

That is monstrous! Murdock didn’t tell people who had nothing to read the Gospel, and pray. Instead, he told them to go deeper in debt.

If you have ever listened to him, you’d have to say no.

Though, I have never heard him speak about it specifically.

I just don’t think it goes with his approach to life and responsibility.

One thing I have noticed in people, incl myself, is always wanting “more”. Except that once you get “more” you want more. And it never ends. People with money want more. So if u can defeat “more” problem, you can worship and help and love and gain wisdom, etc.

Another thing I’ve noticed is re: spoiled children. The secret is teaching the child to be grateful for what u give them; grateful for what they have. Gratitude to God is so important throughout life IMO. Being grateful instead of complaining is healthy.

Costi W. Hinn is the nephew of Benny Hinn.

Well that explains the following:

In several simple paragraphs, I want to share with you why I hate the prosperity gospel. Let the reader understand, I don’t necessarily hate the people preaching it or family members who propagate it,

Who are the most prominent prosperity Gospel preachers? I know about the Osteens and Andy Stanley. Who are some other prosperity rockstars?

“..Is Dave Ramsey one of these prosperity proponents?...”
From what I’ve read, I don’t believe so. He’s more into helping people, especially Christians, get out of debt and living within their means. Will one become “prosperous” when that’s achieved? It’s a relative term.
IMHO, believing God for millions of dollars rather than for what He did at calvary for the lost is, to me, the “prosperity message” and is a false message. Yes, God blesses and sometimes i’s nto always financial, but it’s a person’s attitude regarding that blessing that’s important. The wrong attitude with regard to financial blessing will spiritually sink a person.

Prosperity, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

Cause people to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ; pick up their cross and follow Him, that their name be written in the Book of Life.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God...

Everyone will have to account for themselves before the Most High some day - do your own duty and leave the rest to God Almighty.

Just my opinion obviously.

P.S. - I am not advocating or defending Osteen or the so-called ‘prosperity Gospel’!

My wife and I have had a fun “sarcastic” phrase we use when we see something we want: If only I had that ____________ my life would be complete. ;)

Funny thing happens with getting old (we’re both 65). You just naturally want less and less as you learn it’s all just stuff. I have gotten to the point where I see everything I own as simply a tool to be used to accomplish something. It’s why I’m not particularly interested in buying things that just look nice, though, if I’m building something, I would like it to not be ugly.
