My wife and I have had a fun “sarcastic” phrase we use when we see something we want: If only I had that ____________ my life would be complete. ;)
Funny thing happens with getting old (we’re both 65). You just naturally want less and less as you learn it’s all just stuff. I have gotten to the point where I see everything I own as simply a tool to be used to accomplish something. It’s why I’m not particularly interested in buying things that just look nice, though, if I’m building something, I would like it to not be ugly.
I could’ve posted the same thing you did. We have similar philosophies. At my age, decluttering is more important than collecting useless gee-gaws and what-knots. Less is more.
