The following 12 quotes come from the writings of St. Peter Damian, a great ascetic and monk who was especially troubled by the clergy and religious of his time who failed in their duties, especially celibacy.

Think of them as a year of monthly intentions for the US bishops to meditate upon in reparation for the Scandal:

I have a vague, nagging feeling that this would NEVER happen. But then; even St. Paul got struck blind; so...

I don't think they are allowed to. ;o)

Although, if you read the most current Catechism, they actually do acknowledge that saved Christians CAN exist outside of the Roman Catholic church, though they don't like saying they are called "churches" only ecclesiastical communities. Funny, since that word "ecclesia" is the Greek word for assembly or CHURCH! It sounds like they presume they alone can call themselves the "Church".
