WASHINGTON (CNS) The declaration signed by Pope Francis and Sheik Ahmad el-Tayeb, the grand imam of al-Azhar, during the popes trip to the United Arab Emirates is a clarion call for robust dialogue that leads to peace, said the Catholic chairman of the National Catholic-Muslim Dialogue and the chairman of the U.S. bishops Committee on Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs.
In our increasingly hostile world in which violence too often predominates between Christians and Muslims violence that has led to tragic consequences for the most vulnerable humans we welcome with great joy this historic joint statement on human fraternity, said Cardinal Blase J. Cupich of Chicago and Bishop Joseph C. Bambera of Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Pope Francis and Sheik el-Tayeb, a leading religious authority for many Sunni Muslims around the world, signed A Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together Feb. 4 in Abu Dhabi.
We, who believe in God and in the final meeting with him and his judgment, on the basis of our religious and moral responsibility, and through this document, call upon ourselves, upon the leaders of the world as well as the architects of international policy and world economy, to work strenuously to spread the culture of tolerance and of living together in peace, the document said.

I would prefer an African Pope, from a country where Christians are heavily persecuted by Muslims.
The right Pope for the right time. John Paul II suffered under the Nazis and Communists and so, knew what to do to help the downfall of the Soviet Union.
We need a Pope that has suffered under Islam.
Stupid sap!
It will indeed! Maranatha!
Is he an ecumenical heretic?
We are truly in the last days. Save us from this evil, Lord Jesus.
[We are truly in the last days.]
Yes we truly are.
Keep praying and keep looking up.
It’s closer than you think.
The Lord Jesus is truly our only Hope at this point - just like He always has been.
Do the beads fade into a heterosexual rosary? Ick.
I forgot to ping you guys so here it is!
Thanks for the ping.
It’s important to realize that there were many so-called Christians in the audience when this thing was signed. It’s not just a Catholic error.
The last pope . . . ushering in the NWO. There is but ONE God! God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Nicey nice with other religions . . . not a good thing . . . but it does expose false religious leaders.
Oh, God! (And I mean that in a prayerful way, not a blasphemy way.)
I’d ask, “What is this world coming to?”, but I think we all know the answer to that.
“Nicey nice with other religions . . . not a good thing . . . but it does expose false religious leaders.”
So true. When the big “ecumenical” push began in full swing back in the ‘60s or ‘70s, the evangelicals were adamantly against it. I can’t even count the number of sermons my dad preached, warning what would happen. That movement was the start of the slippery slope — and now look where we are.
Yep, the hits just keep on coming.
I can tell you that the seminary graduates I worked with years ago had no problems with this kind of stuff. At least none of them voiced their objections to one currently working on his masters. He was the one who gave the “lesson”.
Vatican 2 destroyed the church.

The mission of the Second Vatican Council was to destroy traditional, orthodox Roman Catholicism. Below is a account of their success.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2nd Ed., 2016

All Catechisms other than the Catechism of the Council of Trent are, to varying degrees, defective to the extent that they inaccurately convey the doctrines of the Catholic Faith.
