On Tuesday morning, my 86 year old dad, accompanied by my 85 year old mother, two of the most devout Catholics I've ever known, went to church for an hour of adoration. While there, my dad suddenly began experiencing violent chills, and my mom took him to an Urgent Care who referred him to the local ER.
He was admitted to the hospital where he has been ever since. Doctors initially ran some blood tests and found what they believed was a blood infection; however, his fever subsided and he has stabilized. At first the doctors thought the culture may have been contaminated as he was feeling better, so they took another culture and it appears there was no contamination, he does in fact have a blood infection, but they can't explain why his fever has subsided. They took another culture on Wednesday, which is supposed to have a 48 hour turn-around so we should know more about the nature of the infection today.
My mom is very stressed, and indeed in over 50 years of marriage, they have grown extremely dependent on one another. I'm 700 miles away, but my sister is keeping me updated with the latest news. Meanwhile, I'm preparing for the worst and getting ready to head home if things turn for the worse.
Please pray for Philip, my dad. Born in 1932, he served in the USAF in both the US and England, before returning home and serving over 30 years as a police officer in university town and investing his mind, body and soul in providing a loving, moral, spiritual home for his wife and three children. He has been a prayer warrior his entire life, and I'm asking the FR community for any prayers they may offer on his behalf at this critical time.
Prayers up, Joe.
Prayers up.
Perhaps the report issues by the Church yesterday sent shivers? It was pretty revealing and had to be disheartening.
Prayers for your dad Joe, and an extra one for your mom who must be terrified.
Dear Lord, Please heal your child, Philip, and grant him more years upon this earth to pray for others and to care for his beloved wife. In Jesus Name. Amen
Prayers for your Dad Joe
God bless. Prayers coming your way, brother.
Prayers up for both your dear parents.
Sal, we need some extras over here, thank you.
Prayers out for your Papa, Joe, and for mom as well.
Praying!
Prayers up Joe and I will remember them both at Mass.
Prayers up Joe. If they gave him any antibiotics or even fluids, that could have helped if his infection is not too aggressive. I am praying for the doctors too and hope they treat his symptoms while they are busy growing cultures.
Prayers ascended.
Prayers for all.
Prayers going up for your dad, mom, sister, and yourself!
Prayers sent for family.
God bless
Will do!
Prayers up!
