Tribulation

Under the old covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins. But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet. For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy.
And the Holy Spirit also testifies that this is so. For he says,

“This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord:
I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”

Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ. Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering. Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things. You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever.
So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.

“For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay.
And my righteous ones will live by faith. But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”

But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved.

So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

Beloved, Almighty Father,

We praise Your name! We seek to glorify Your goodness, mercy and longsuffering for the sake of us sinners. There is none like You, Lord of All!

Lord God, our beautiful nation has tolerated and even legalized grievous sins; now we Christ-professing citizens stand condemned and humiliated along with those who revel in the lawlessness, sexual immorality, public corruption and denunciations of Truth. For the sake of this nation dedicated to You centuries ago by Christian pilgrims, Lord, restore our land that once was the beacon of liberty. For we know that true freedom is only found within the Spirit; all self-dealing is destruction.

Our President often professes belief in Your Providence; now his sins are held up to ridicule by those who worship the golden calf. His sins are grievous, but he is paying for them himself, unlike members of Congress, who rob the taxpayers to buy off their accusers. The shame of this hypocrisy is confounding. Stand with President Trump, Lord God we pray, and let the people learn that humility before our own sinful natures is the Christian creed, not pride and rebellion. We stand on Your promises not to abandon those who believe.

You Are a God of mercy and graciousness, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness! (Ex 34:6) Your forgiveness extended even to Aaron, whom you forgave after he erected the golden calf, making him high priest over the freed Israelites in the desert, that Your promise to establish them as a nation of believers in a land eternally theirs would be fulfilled. Lead us now, Lord, who barely recognize our own country in these lawless times, to a renewed United States, a land of honesty, unity, and integrity in government, education and media, rededicated to Your glory!

We give You thanks that we can yet worship You, and ask on our knees for a revival: of the free practice of Christian social values, for protection of American patriots in every walk of life, for strength to endure the shrieks of the unsurrendered and meet them with witness and testimony, and for calm assurance of Your abiding love and deepest purpose for our nation. May Your Spirit guide and assist us as intercessors—and all patriots—in whatever we say and whatever we do to make America holy again.

Indeed, Father God, thank You for the mercy and the love that You have extended to our President and to our sinful selves. Lord, we ask that his accusers would look at the planks in their own eyes, that they would repent from the path of destruction that they have chosen for their own selves and for this nation. We ask these things in Jesus’ name.
