Mexican cardinal says abuse victims should think about skeletons in their own closets

Swimming against the tide of promises to crack down on abuse and cover-up led by Pope Francis, a newly created Mexican cardinal said that some accusers should be “ashamed” to point their finger at clerics because many of them have skeletons in their own closets.

The victims of pedophilia who “accuse men of the Church should [be careful] because they have long tails that are easily stepped on,” said Cardinal Sergio Obeso Rivera.

The cardinal, emeritus Archbishop of Xalapa, in Veracruz, Mexico, spoke to journalists before a celebration he led in his former diocese.

The outfit he founded openly and proudly makes lesbian bishops. They don't hide their faggotry at all.

And that's different from the Roman Catholic organization just how?

Roman seminaries are filled with homosexuals and everyone there knows it.

The Roman organization continues to ordain homosexual priests. Catholics are in no position to point any fingers at all in the area of morals.

The catholic church is broken..from the top down, from the bottom up. There are many fine/devoted priest and it is a crying shame they have to endure all this nonsense.

Fact remains, the catholic church is rife with scandal after scandal...from the vatican bank to liberal seminaries to abuse...on and on.

I see it spiritual to the inth degree. For me, it is breath taking to see so many defend the church up one side, down the other and express very little concern for the victims who are sent into a lifetime of emotional struggle due to sexual abuse as a child....at the hands of a damn priest.

The catholic church as a whole needs an exorcism.

they are in a very difficult situation which they created. Loan them million and they need it to pay off victims because they can’t keep their pants zipped up. I sure want to donate to them.

Because the leadership has abdicated its God given role to hold each other accountable and take the appropriate action when sin is found out.

Guess what?

The laity isn’t going to get anywhere with this.

Your leadership, those pawns of Satan, are NOT going to listen to you all.

New Orleans is arguably the most catholic town in America which explains the inbreeding between church and state

Normally local prosecutors would not cover for sexual predator priests

The men/criminals/priests raping young innocent children are not priests - they're criminals wearing robes that give them access to children.

If 'the Church' is too corrupt or stupid to see this they will fail...

Monsters must be removed from ‘the Church’ before they infect parishioners with the phony baloney crap that the greatest good is to forgive evil - the siren song of evil every where...

The bible has many lessons and yes, ‘forgiveness’ is one of them - but it's one is ‘one of many’ (there are requirement before forgiveness) - but it's also the favorite of the evil ones - and the one they quote most often.

I want the Pope to come forward and tell us how many ‘priests’ who stole money and wealth from the Catholic Church were ‘forgiven’ multiple times. Time to get real.

Honestly, I don't trust the DAs and AGs any more than I trust the Church hierarchy.

You are right. The Fr. Minkler case was additional proof of that. Fr. Minkler was a priest of the diocese of Albany who was actively working with private investigators at the request of John Cardinal O'Connor of New York to expose heretical practices, homosexuality and abuse in the Albany diocese under Bishop Howard Hubbard (the hero of Fr. James Martin, btw). Fr. Minkler wrote a report on all of the above and submitted it to NYC as well as to the Vatican in 1995. Nothing was done.

In 2004, Hubbard faced public claims that he had engaged in homosexual practices with young men, including a 16 year old. At this time, the old report from 1995 surfaced again and Fr. Minkler apparently signed a document at Hubbard's behest saying that he hadn't written it. Two days later, Fr. Minkler was dead -- ruled a suicide.

This whole sordid affair became hot enough that Hubbard felt forced to bring in an outside investigator. However, Hubbard didn't step aside while the investigation was going on. The investigator was one that he hired himself, and paid a ridiculous amount of money. Not surprisingly, he was cleared of all charges and everything was swept under the rug.

Who was the investigator, you may ask? Clinton-era US Attorney Mary Jo White, whose credentials included exonerating corrupt senator Robert Torricelli two years before.

So in short, the secular authority can not be trusted, either. They are in cahoots with the corrupt bishops--they have the same perverted hobbies.

For those of you who were on FR back in 2004, there's a lot on the Minkler case in the archives:

......This institution is just organized crime. It is time for outside investigation......

Absolutely....they are unequipped to handle this obviously. Their fear of the damage these predators are doing to children and families is secondary to the protecting ‘the priesthood’ entire. ...which is ‘central’ to catholicism. Without the priesthood there is no institution of catholicism .

The reality of the Eucharist does not depend on the virtue of the presiding priest. Sacraments are visible acts of God, not man. Even Martin Luther agreed, declaring that the Eucharist properly administered was holy “even if by a wicked priest.”.

That only marginally eases my mind. The thought of some homo ritual "priest" having his filthy hands on the Eucharist disgusts me.
