The Washington Post asked locals at a southern Baptist church in Alabama why they voted for President Donald Trump despite that the former reality TV stars conduct. Their answer was short and to the point.
Members of the First Baptist church of Luverne, Alabama say former Secretary of State Hillary Clintons campaign for president was a no-go for them, according to a report Saturday from WaPo.
She hates me, Terry Drew, a member of the church, said of Clinton, who lost Alabama by almost 700,000 votes.
She has contempt for people like me, and Clay, and people who love God and believe in the Second Amendment. I think if she had her way it would be a dangerous country for the likes of me, he said, referring to people like the churchs pastor, Clay Crum. Trump has demonstrated a willingness to hang tough with Christians, Drew said.
Drew weighed Trumps character with what he thought is Clintons willingness to destroy his way of life. The choice was clear, he told WaPo reporters, who attended one of Crums sermons to get a lay of the land. Trumps going to stick to me, while Clinton will look the other way, Drew added.
I hate it, he acknowledged. My wife and I talk about it all the time. We rationalize the immoral things away. We dont like it, but we look at the alternative, and think it could be worse than this.
Other members of the church shared similar sentiment.
Jan Carter, another parishioner, said supporting Trump was the only moral thing to do.
You can say righteously I do not support him because of his moral character but you are washing your hands of what is happening in this country, she said, adding that America is slipping toward a civil war on our shores.
Crum, for his part, said supporting Trump is not easy, especially when the president does not demonstrate a keen understanding of Biblical law.
There are times when Christians have to stand up, he said.
Trump is an immoral person doing what Crum considers moral: nominating conservative judges and pushing anti-abortion policies. The presidents victory over Clinton convinced Crum and other members of something else, too. It encouraged them that we do still have some political power in this country, said Crum.
Recent polls suggest that Crums sentiment is prevalent in other states that tilted heavily toward Trump.
More than 6o percent of South Carolina Republicans said Trump was moral in a Winthop University poll conducted in April. Only 51 percent of evangelicals said that term was somewhat inaccurate in describing the president.
The fact that fewer than half of evangelicals overall would describe Trump as godly or moral suggests that his strength with these groups comes not from modeling pious behavior, but from them viewing him as a bulwark against a culture that they feel is increasingly hostile to them, Winthrop Poll director Scott Huffmon said in the poll.
An immoral person does not do moral things.
What choice did they have (at least post-nomination)? Hill’s a commie.
The Clintons’ immorality is more significant.
Open marriage, threatening witnesses, stealing charitable contributions for natural disaster relief, betrayal of country, lies lies lies, advocating homofascism...
They don’t support him because of his *moral character*?
Like they are paragons of virtue and holiness.
The finger pointing of those who call themselves Christians is hypocritical.
And besides, what has the left dug up on Trump to condemn him?
Absolutely NOTHING.
And it isn’t for lack of trying.
Kind of like voting for W. He’s running against Algore, what are you gonna do?
>>An immoral person does not do moral things.
Actually, they do, but not for the right reason.
Hillary Clinton stated in her 2016 acceptance speech that she sought the legality of abortion for all 9 months of pregnancy.
No rational person agrees with that.
Europe does not allow this.
Most of us know democrats secretly want this but because of her self assured arrogance Clinton openly professed it.
That kills hundreds of babies every year in a state of absolute innocence.
Its not close on the question of morality.
Liberal reporters profess to be shocked, just shocked, that evangelicals and other people of faith, are not repulsed by Trump.
What they fail to understand, is that we are repulsed by Hillary. They also don’t know that people of faith are voting for a president, not a Pope, not a pastor. They don’t expect that elected officials will necessarily share thier faith. People of faith know they are electing people to run a secular government.
Aside from his goal to get this country back on track with the Constitution, the thing that sealed the deal for me was his very clear pro-life statements during his third debate.
Trump is an immoral person doing what Crum considers moral..., said Crum.
................
Self-righteous idiots like this drive people away from Christ faster than anything else. We’re going to have a camera follow you around every second of your life mr. Crum and we’re going to also install something that reads every thought from your brain will find out just how moral you are.
I still contend that Hillary’s ‘basket of deplorables’ remark cost her the election by a wide margin.
The WaPo hates them too.
And Hillary called us all deplorable.
We are racist, sexist, homophobic etc. Her trained seals at that event clapped at her pronouncement. But we know how these elitists think they are smarter than everyone else, better than everyone else, more deserving of being in power over us.
.I think Hillary’s comments about us deplorables may have cost her the election. In an election decided by narrow margins in a handful of states, states which are far removed from the New York Washington axis, her comments cut deeply.
Its not against Gods plan to use one enemy to take out another enemy.. It happened in the old testament..godless people being swept from his kingdom by another godless peoples.. And if the shill, hill had been elected it would have been the justice this country deserved. Either way, God is in control of my life.

There are a million reasons."Deplorable","typical white person" and "bitterly clings to their guns and religion" come quickly to mind.
Someone let me know when we start having elections for the Pope, in the mean time Hillary is still not our President
Sure they do. That’s how they camoflauge themselves and earn the trust of suckers. Devil’s technique is not to lie 100% of the time but to tell the truth most of the time to make the lie effective.
Trump has done more for evangelical causes than any other president(even Reagan!) We, as believers in the gospel believe Christ can change a man. Churchill, Disraeli, and other great leaders might have had faith issues bukt they did what God wanted. I accept Trumps past moral frailties and expect to vote enthusiastically for him again. (For all you haters out there, I was a Cruz supporter until the very end!)
