I am relocating in a few months and would like to live in Southern California. It could be almost anywhere -- Santa Barbara to Temecula. The one **attraction** I am after is to find an evangelical (and Bible teaching) church with a choir, no entertainment, no band nor drum set on stage. Maybe, even a place where the pastor-teacher wears a tie and slacks, not jeans and a t-shirt.
Seriously --- Am I hoping for too much?
What was that about DANCING???
Of course you will, you said it yourself and it's no surprise.
You belong to the church of "I will think whatever I like."
It may be news to you but God is God and you(and I) are not. His Church is what He made it and not for us to remodel to our own liking, you are free to continue to do so but at the risk of your eternal soul.
Oh, no. This is not too much to ask.
What you are looking for is a church designed for people in the last generation - an old people's church. One that is not culturally relevant today, because you are still living in the culture you grew up in. They still exist, though generally shrinking as your peers die off or move to FL.
Given that the Scriptures do not specify choirs or specify instruments as the only allowed sources of music, you are seeking something based on personal preference. You can find this, if it is what you still want.
Oh, and clothing... Never specified. Man looks at the outward appearance. God looks at the heart.
No worries. I'm sure you will find these - particularly in areas of older people.
“Praise God 1.6 billion Catholics and countless other Christians do not share you and your six pals demented worldview.
Amazing comeback to posted facts. :-)
You should not be praising God for confirming "wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew 7:13.14)

You’re up to five now.
Why don’t you try pinging your group a few more times to see if you can make it all the way to eight FR souls that share your deranged opinions.
I hope and pray that what ever it is that causes you to convulse yourself into mental gymnastics at the mere sight of the word catholic with a capital c releases you and your pals from it’s grip and you can re-join the world of the sain. I’m not holding my breath but I do believe that with God all things are possible.
That is what mine did.

Nah; that would be overkill.
Leviticus 26:8 King James Bible
And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.
If...
...if it makes it past Mary; that is.
They are calling "pun lists," and even RCs have them! And i usually ping them to the first post to a new thread, which must have been to you.
But due to resorting to a fallacious ad hominem in lieu of an actual argument, it means you have exposed yourself thusly.
A pretty hateful comment.

I have NOOOO idea what the church is like. It sounds like their are various buildings spread over a wide area (satelites?). I suppose each one offers a different type of service.
Our church pastor used to be at Menlo Park Presbyterian church. He almost always preaches a sermon based primarily on the texts - and most of them are of the “teaching” aspect I think. Our church (Seattle area) has a traditional service (choir, organ, brass and strings for Christmas and Easter, bells, etc.) as well as a modern service. It looks like Menlo Park does similar.
These church websites aren’t the easiest to track things down, but I imagine that they have webcasts of their entire services to get an idea of things. Of course I wouldn’t base a decision on just one service. Make sure the preacher isn’t a guest speaker!! (I did that once in visiting a church. It wasn’t until quite awhile later I realized the guy I saw was a guest!)
Good luck!
Oh darn - I’m an idiot- Menlo Park is the Bay Area!! Oops.
Thank you very much. I’m looking forward to checking out that site.
Not in any way. You do not have the ability to see my heart. Dont pretend.

Right,< / sarc> you expect me to believe that you accidentally pinged your posse in your very first post 51 on this thread to the post where you call your pals to join in ATTACKING, which they did by the way, my friendly post, inviting the original poster to share in the joy I have come to know, all the way down thread at post number 31 by calling all Catholics "mostly spiritually dead" instead of the way you "usually ping them to the first post to a new thread."
You can keep telling yourself that until you really believe it but you missed it by that much. One or two posts, maybe even six would be an accident but THIRTY? Give me a break.
You and your six five pals can call your "pun lists" all you like, it wont change a bit how ridiculous you all appear.
No, I do not you expect you to believe that i accidentally pinged my "possess" to attack your your "friendly post," but that I purposely pinged them to my first post to the tread, as usual, to see your proselytizing post reproved.
You purposely invited a Protestant "to stop in at any Catholic Church with perpetual adoration" and liked to a propagandist web site as an inducement, and you expect us to no respond to such? I warrants reproof as much as a Mormon invite to his church would.
by calling all Catholics "mostly spiritually dead""
I actually expressed that the congregation is "mostly spiritually dead," which is true, and as said, i speak as a former weekly mass-going RC, CCD teacher and lector who came to know the difference while still a RC.
instead of the way you "usually ping them to the first post to a new thread.
There is no "instead" since for 12 years my first post has usually been on the RF reproving RC. So you need not feel special.

You ranting is incoherent. There is no accident, and many RCS as well as others have ping lists by which they initially ping interested (by invitation) FReepers, and there is nothing ridiculous about it: only your angry venting and personal attacks appears so. And as the RM says in the rules ,
Open threads are in a town square format.
Posters may argue for or against beliefs, deities, religious authorities, etc. They may tear down others beliefs. They may ridicule. Open RF debate is often contentious.
It requires thick skin. A poster must be able to make his points while standing his ground, suffering adverse remarks about his beliefs - or letting them roll off his back.
Members of religions which are as much culture as belief sometimes take religious debate personally. If you keep getting your feelings hurt because other posters ridicule or disapprove or hate what you hold dear, then you are too thin-skinned to be involved in open RF debate. You should IGNORE open RF threads altogether and instead post to RF threads labeled prayer devotional caucus or ecumenical.
