'Bible Quotes and Scientific Facts, Part 2
1988 | Sam Gipp

Posted on 03/23/2018 12:43:24 PM PDT by Pilgrim's Progress

This is a continuation of the thread where we looked at common English says that were found in the King James Bible.

https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/religion/3638962/posts?q=1&;page=1

Now we will look at scientific facts from the Authorized version . . .

Would to God that people that are not fans of the Bible for the English-speaking people be convinced that it is much more than a mere Bible version - but the Book that God has used for 400 years to the saving of countless souls for Christ.

Because it is and He created everything.

If He didn’t create it, where do you think it came from?

And yet not one secular historian of the time knows anything about any of those things

So true.

Them Romans must have been crazy to incorporate Christianity into their empire.

Look at Job, chapter 37 . . .

Verse 7, “He sealeth up the hand of every man . . .”

How did He do that? How is your hand sealed? FINGERPRINTS.

You do know that every one of us has a different set of fingerprints? That is our seal. That is the absolute identification point – no one is able to forge them, no one has been able to make phone fingerprints. Look, you can get somebody that looks like somebody, sounds like somebody, that walks and talks like somebody, you can’t get somebody that has somebody else’s fingerprints. Do you realize that in that verse God helped every police department in the world?

“He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work.”

He wanted us to know, that by looking at our thumb . . . people like to say, ‘Well, what about the heathen that never heard?’ Well, the heathen that never heard looked at their hand. Don’t you realize that?

There was a Russian Christian, and there was a couple – a man an his wife – standing on the corner in downtown Moscow. And the Lord told that Russian Christian to go talk to them. And he said, “Lord, you know if I talk to them — I’m in Russia. If I go talk to them, they’ll throw me in jail for witnessing . . .” And the Lord told him to go talk to them.

So he walked over, and kind of butted in, and said, “I’d like to tell you about Jesus Christ.”

And they said, “Whose that?” And he said, “Well, He’s the Son of God.” “Whose that?” And he said, “Well, He’s the One that made us.” And they grabbed him and exclaimed, “We have been looking for Him!

You know what they were? They were a couple of Russian scientists, who by looking at their hand had come to believe that we were created because that thumb couldn’t happen by accident.

They said that thing right there – the way it works — they looked at their hand, they looked at their fingerprints, they looked at their thumb, and they said none of this can happen by accident – something or someone made this – and they said they wished they could find out Who it was. And that fellow led them both to Christ on a Moscow street corner because their hand was sealed.

There is no recording going on in the Gospels. They are not first hand accounts.

HMMMmmm...

Is the book of Luke considered to be a 'gospel'?

Luke 1:1-4

Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word.

With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.

Their works are not independent accounts as they borrow heavily from each other, especially from Mark and even then they can't get the orders of events straight.

Sounds like the 'news' bureaus of today!

>>>If He didn’t create it, where do you think it came from?<<<

“And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer”
(Revelation 10:5-6)
.

God began the concept of time and it is God that will end it.

Time in some degree existed for there to be a point known as ‘in the beginning’ . . . but it was not until the fourth day that God created the bodies by which we ‘measure’ time, the sun and the moon.

The four gospels were written to display Christ in four distinct roles.

Matthew as the “King of the Jews” . . . even supplying a detailed genealogy to prove His right to the throne of David.

Mark presents Him as the “servant of man”. The book was directed to the Romans showing Him as doing the job that God sent Him to do.

Luke presents Him as the perfect man, and is directed to the Greeks.

John was written to the world at large and is meant to show that Jesus Christ is very God of very God - the eternal God that became man.

So they are not simply retellings of the same story.

“Because it is and He created everything.”

Including evil and sin in the physical world?

“If He didn’t create it, where do you think it came from?”

See above: Answer - Mankind, sometime after it created evil and sin in the physical world (could’ve come up with it before time, though, I suppose). Time only has meaning to us humans.

“Let’s not over look the ‘historical’ nature of the four gospel writers. I doubt that they thought of themselves as ‘founders of a new religion’. It is more likely they wrote as Luke told Theophilus, to make a record of events, put another way, they wrote for the Historical record.”

Correct - and that is even more significant when you condider the fact the only copies of Plato’s work were written over 1000 years removed from his time and that only 7 manuscripts have been found.

So far, there are about 5600 New Testaments manuscripts - all of which could have been written during Jesus’ own lifetime if he had lived to a ripe old age, as did His close disciple John.

And any library's biographical section has multiple books about Lincoln; Washington; any famous person that have been written by different authors.

I'd dare say that none of them tell the same story about each individual either.

Look at chapter 38 . . .

Now here’s one that is absurd, look at verse 7, “When the morning stars sang together . . .”

Now let’s face it, stars don’t sing, right? I mean other than those out of Hollywood. Kind of strange that they call those people out of Hollywood stars, isn’t it? You ever wonder why they do that? I wonder if they are quoting a King James Bible when they get those people those people to sing and call them stars. I don’t imagine they can be mimicking a King James Bible, I doubt that.

Anyway, it says that the morning stars sang together when the Lord made the earth.

You know what science has ‘discovered’? – I like that term. They have discovered that all stars send out radio waves. Now they don’t do it all the time, they only do it periodically. And we have huge radio antennas to pick up radio waves from stars – we are pointing them at the stars – and when the radio waves come in, you know what a scientist will say? A SCIENTIST, THIS KING JAMES BIBLE BELIEVING SCIENTEST WILL SAY, “The stars are SINGING!”

That is their terminology for receiving radio waves from a star (which is not pure) – from a star out in space. They say that the stars are singing. Where do you think they got that from? They got it from the same Book we got it from – they got it from the same Book that God wrote – they got it from the same Book of the Creator that made them – They got it from the King James Bible.

Chapter 38 . . .

Look at verse 16, “Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? . . .”

Now that’s a crazy one. Everyone knows that the sea is salt water, right? You know what the Bible said? The Bible said that the sea has springs in it. Now I’m not talking about bed springs, I’m talking about cold water springs. You know what science has since discovered, old Jacques Cousteau and crew? They have discovered that our seas are fed from at their bases by fresh water springs.

Now, you reckon that Job was a scuba diver? You think Job got out on his bathyscaphe or his Calypso, and gone down – you know – about 3 or 4 or 5 miles . . . you think he’d gone down there to the base of the sea and tasted the water? Do you think he’d done that? You think the writer of Job did that?

I think the writer of Job, when God said that there are springs in the sea, I think he said that’s the craziest thing I ever heard. But I’m going to do it. I’m going to write it. If You said write it, I’m going to write it.

Hasn’t God ever told you something that sounded crazy? Man, you haven’t lived.

On in chapter 38 . . .

Verse 19 says, “Where is the way where light dwelleth? . . .”

You know what the Bible says? It says that light dwells in a way – doesn’t dwell in a place – dwells in a way. You know what science has since discovered? I really, really like that term. They have since discovered that the light coming out of here – that light is always moving. It’s what, 186,000 miles a second – seven times around the equator – in one second. That’s the speed of light, that’s what light will do. This light is always moving.

If you walk outside at night with a flashlight in your hand, and you turn that beam on, and that light is shone out into space. When you turn that flashlight off, you don’t know it, but that beam is still going out into space.

We are receiving light from stars that no longer exist. Because, you see, light doesn’t dwell in a ‘space’ – light dwells in a ‘way.’ Light is always moving.

Now the new Bibles say this. The New King James and the New American Standard say “do you know the way to the dwelling of light?” And the New International says, “to the abode of light.” See, they try to tell you that light dwells in a place. Light doesn’t dwell in a ‘place’, light dwells in a ‘way.’ It is always moving.

In fact, look at the rest of the verse, “. . . and as for darkness, where is the place thereof”

Now, darkness is a ‘place.’ Have you ever been in the woods at night? Now that is a dark place. I don’t care if darkness moves or not, it doesn’t move fast enough to get out of my way. Have you ever been in a dark place? You ever been in a place where you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face? I have. It wasn’t a dark way, it was a dark place!
