Julianne Benzel, a teacher at Rocklin High School, asked students if school administrators would permit an anti-abortion protest, gets placed on administrative leave as a consequence
A California high school teacher has been placed on leave after she wondered if her school would permit an organized walkout to protest abortion.
According to CBS Sacramento, Rocklin High Schools Julianne Benzel said all she did was have a conversation with her class last Thursday and Friday about the politics of protest a lesson ahead of yesterdays school walkouts. However, this seems to have angered some students and their parents.
Benzel said I just kind of used the example which I know its really controversial, but I know it was the best example I thought of at the timea group of students nationwide, or even locally, decided I want to walk out of school for 17 minutes and go in the quad area and protest abortion, would that be allowed by our administration?
She insists she never discouraged her students from participating in the demonstration, but considered the propriety of a (public) school supporting some protests but not others.
[Benzel] says the administration didnt talk to her about her lecture, last week.
But while thousands of students walked out of class, Mrs. Benzel received a letter from her human resources department, informing her shes being placed on paid administrative leave.

Government schools are indoctrination centers. Period.
Liberals everywhere hate Wittgensteinian logic.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Wow. Wonder if anyone is noticing what is happening in this nation and what it means?
And the ACLU is nowhere to be found.
It would almost be okay to let California go just to see its Constitution.
Abortion may ultimately be one of the main causes of the end of America as we know it. There were forces who let it into the American psyche like a virus and by design through the liberal. It’s by far the leading cause of death as reported by the CDC.
The Left, now in most positions of power, is conducting a quiet reign of terror. They now use their authority to silence any dissent of their orthodoxy thru intimidation, threats to ones job, and bullying.
What a perfect description.
When will they learn: CA and freedom are antonyms. With the former, there is not the latter.
Someone needs a month at reeducation camp ,LOL
Thought Crime
All true.
Those who support murdering babies between conception and birth hate those who oppose murdering babies between conception and birth.
Why are we surprised and horrified when people in our society hurt or kill others, when we allow abortion as a ‘right’, and resist even the most basic and easily defensible restrictions?
The oppression of leftist thugs is getting bolder.
Wouldn't you just love it if a USSC case extended that idea, so as to allow us to be exempt from paying local taxes to support a K-12 system, as long as we can demonstrate a sufficient level of evidence that we are paying property taxes to have our kids politicized?
Within seconds of any secretly recorded anti-GOP or Trump-Derangement-Syndrome Teacher Tirade video hitting the 'net, their butt would be hitting the pavement and their desk contents following a minute later, and they'd be unemployable by any Public School system in the US.
Doing anything that threatens the Bottom Line of a school district would self-enforce a de-politicization of ours schools so fast your heads will spin.
Hate crime.
