National Prayer Breakfast

Today, February 8, 2018, the 66th annual National Prayer Breakfast will be held at the Washington DC Hilton Hotel, beginning at 8:00 AM EST. President Trump will be one of the speakers.

Annually on the first Thursday in February, attendees from all 50 states and over 100 countries gather for a day-long series of meetings to forge relationships, discuss faith and its role in strengthening nations, and join in prayer. Every President since Dwight D. Eisenhower has spoken at the National Prayer Breakfast. This year some 3,500 are expected to attend.

Carson Wentz, quarterback of the Superbowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles will be this year's keynote speaker. Past keynoters have included Mother Teresa, Elizabeth Dole, Bono, Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, and Dr. Ben Carson.

Father God,

Almighty, All-Powerful, with wisdom and grace abounding,

Today we lift up to you the National Prayer Breakfast for Your special anointing. Lord God, We humbly ask that the speakers and guests are infilled with the Holy Spirit on this occasion.

May they experience a deepening of belief and dedication to the Great Commission.

May beneficial relationships emerge from this event. May all of the speakers bring the Truth of the gospel and testify from their hearts. May the prayers offered bear fruit within our nation and among the nations participating.

We especially pray for our President's turn at the microphone, that he should be a channel of Your peace and an instrument of the Holy Spirit as he speaks. Give him Your words, Lord, confidence in Your witness, and silences where You would have them.

We lift up all chaplains that serve our U.S. military and also the chaplains of the House and Senate. Remove from them the yoke of political correctness of the past administration, Father, that they may legally speak the Name Above All Names without restriction.

And we lift up all the small prayer groups that have formed in the Congress, the offices of the DC bureaucracy, and in the private residences of many who work for our government in Washington. May the Holy Spirit be with every one of those groups, helping lawmakers and administrators to look to Your guidance for their decision-making. May You speak to their hearts and help them to form bonds of fellowship regardless of whatever issues may be in contention as they work together for the benefit of the People. May prayer be the Counselor for the problems facing our national leaders.

Lastly, we ask for travel safety, tolerable weather and traffic mercies for all participants coming and going to and from this special event.

Just yesterday a joke was seen about an assassination attempt. Please, please keep this man safe. His bravery and ingenuity are needed if he is to continue Your work in making this nation the one You intended it to be.
Even though we are far from Sodom and Gomorrah city limits, site of this prayer breakfast, we ask You hear our prayers along with those of pure heart who will be attending.
