In his new message for the World Day of Peace, Pope Francis has denounced those who question the wisdom of mass migration, accusing them of demagoguery and promoting xenophobia.
Those who decry the risks posed to national security or the high cost of welcoming new arrivals, are guilty of demeaning the human dignity due to all as sons and daughters of God, Francis said in the New Years message.
To resort to such rhetoric, the Pope continued, people are sowing violence, racial discrimination and xenophobia, which are matters of great concern for all those concerned for the safety of every human being.
The Catholic Church celebrates the World Day of Peace each year on New Years day, when it also commemorates the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. In his annual message for the Day of Peace, the Pope opted once again to underscore the plight of migrants and refugees, as he has on several occasions recently.
Migrants are men and women, children and elderly people, who are searching for somewhere to live in peace, Francis said, and in order to find that peace, they are willing to risk their lives on a journey that is often long and perilous, to endure hardships and suffering, and to encounter fences and walls built to keep them far from their goal.
In a spirit of compassion, let us embrace all those fleeing from war and hunger, or forced by discrimination, persecution, poverty and environmental degradation to leave their homelands, he said.
The Pope also outlined his theory regarding the causes of the mass migration that is affecting Europe and other parts of the world.

Frances thinks he’s Obama.
This joker must have been picked by Obola or Soros.
Trying to explain to liberals why a steady stream of unemployable Muslims marching into the West is not a good idea is like trying to explain to a 5 year old why we can’t bring home the cute litter of baby skunks we found in the woods.
Do Catholics really believe this?
If he truly feels that way he should OPEN up those gates at the Vatican and let those poor lil migrants in
The Pope really has me thinking that somehow, President Obama or allies engineered his ascendancy.
His pronouncements seem so far-left.
Animals migrate we have no room for Muzie animals.
Animals migrate we have no room for Muzie animals.
Your judgment before Christ awaits you Jorge.
RACISM is sinful. We are all one human race originating from Adam and Eve. Bearing the image of GOD.
The United States is predicated on that very self-evident concept: hence the words “ALL men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights...”
The topic at hand is not one of race, but of nationhood and sovereignty — concepts which are wholly ordained by God.
We will pursue this beautiful visiona world of strong, sovereign, and independent nations, each with its own cultures and dreams, thriving side-by-side in prosperity, freedom, and peace...” ~ President Trump
“When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God.” ~ Deuteronomy 32:8
There is also the concept of Law and Order. And the role of governments to secure both.
I think we’re watching the destruction of the Catholic Church.
I don’t see him bringing them into the walls of the Vatican.
In April 2016 with great fanfare the Pope brought twelve Syrian refugees to the Vatican. He rescued them. Twelve! Then it turns out they never spent a night in the Vatican itself. They were going to be given apartments in Rome. Then everyone got bored with the story, the Church, the media, and I don’t know what happened to them after their rescue.
So says the man who lives inside a well protected enclave.
How does one flee "environmental degradation" if it's a global problem?
And how does one flee poverty, without actively seeking gainful employment?
Oh come on, Francis... throw the gates of the Vatican open to the invading horde. You have reduced the Catholic Church into a mess that 40 successors could not repair.
Has he said anything about all of the women - and little boys! - raped by ‘migrants’; the acid attacks, &c?
