Active intercession?

Active intercession?

Question: Are the saints in heaven active in the affairs of Earth? Robert Bonsignore, Brooklyn, New York

Answer: Yes, we have a lot of evidence for that. But exactly how and to what extent they are aware and active is not fully known to us.

It seems unlikely that the saints can merely look down and watch us as though they were watching a movie, or that they can know our inmost thoughts. Such things are probably beyond their capacity and might even be considered intrusive of our privacy.

It seems safer to assume that the saints are aware of our needs and condition to the degree that God reveals this to them. Thus, if I am asking St. Anthony to pray for me, his capacity to hear my request is facilitated by the Lord and due to the membership both St. Anthony and I have in the Body of Christ. By analogy, the two members of my body that I call my hands can interact by the fact they are coordinated through my head. Jesus is the Head of the Body, the Church and everything in his Body is under his authority and coordinated by him, including the awareness and communion of various members of the body with each other.

His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

John isn't talking about burning up sin here...John is talking about burning up the sinner...With unquenchable fire...What place is referred to in the scriptures that refers to unquenchable fire??? Does the Catholic purgatory have unquenchable fire for the Catholics???

The only place where there will be unquenchable fire is Hell...

The fire in 1Corinthians 3 is for cleansing (the record)...This fire is for everlasting punishment...And there's not a Christian in the entire crew...

You guys learn this stuff from your Catholic priests and they don't know enough bible to intelligently comment on it...

Jesus told us that he would raise us up at the last day so the question is ;when is the last day and how long is the last day?

If the last day is a thousand years then the saints could have started raising many years ago so what you say could be true.

But if the last day is a literal day then the saints could not possibly be raised yet.

Those in the first resurrection lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years but the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished.

So where does it all fit?

I hear you have to have it to be a janitor in a church.

You and your likes simply cannot fathom that a Protestant would stand up against your vicious attacks against the Catholic Church

I agree with you there, but i did not see where any one was attacking the Catholic Church.

I believe we should point out what we think is false doctrine regardless of what church it is and unless some one can prove it by plain scripture then maybe they should just let it go.

I honestly believe most freepers just go with what ever side their Church is on and that is why there is so much false doctrine.

The Catholic Church is comfortable with calling all of the Bishops father so the congregation is also comfortable with it even though Jesus said in words that could not be any plainer that it was wrong and told us not to do it.

On the other hand the protestants claim virgin Mary had six or more children with out any proof what so ever, why? just to harass the Catholics.

We are not arguing Bible we are arguing denomination.

The protestants give the Mormons and Catholics hell and the Catholics give the protestants hell or rather they pull them into a fight.

We are a hell of a bunch of Christians, are we not? but we are believers.

Romans is a perfect description of this denomination

The irony, and hypocrisy ...

Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ: To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers; Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you. For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

Romans, Catholic chapter one, Protestant verses one to twelve,
as authorized, but not authored, by King James

The Apostle Paul loved the Romans and did not build a religious movement whose premise is that the Messiah did not build His church on the apostles and prophets with Himself as the chief cornerstone to prevail against the gates of Hell as a visible presence in this age teaching the nations His Gospel and always awaiting His return.

“The Apostle Paul loved the Romans

You’ve confused the church in Rome with the Roman denomination.

You’ve confused the church in Rome with the Roman denomination.

When one's religion is founded on the premise there is no one holy catholic and apostolic church, one makes all sorts of errors.

The Apostle Paul wrote otherwise. Bigotry and hatred of the one holy catholic and apostolic church leads to all sorts of errors.

The Apostle Paul wrote otherwise.

Well, the best I can do for you is say I understand why you would think this. I used to believe the same thing when I was a Roman. It's how they bring you up and brainwash you.

Paul though, wrote to the church of Rome in about 58 ad.

He would not recognize the beliefs of the Roman denomination today - the Greek system of demigods, the sacramental system of works, the rampant sin of homosexuality allowed to exist, the existence of a "pope" and most tragically, the rejection of the Gospel Paul got directly in the presence of Christ.

Attempts at mind reading also produce errors.

The rest of your comments could be summed up in a song,
Here, in My Head.

All the splits within and without the Universal body of Christ can be explained in one word: Satan.

What is EO?

Scripture is only “Lacking” when interpreted by folks without the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, guided more by their ego.

Can’t you see the results of that? Too many people thinking they have the gift, and coming up with interpretations that would make the Holy Spirit a schizophrenic or a liar. Two contradictory interpretations of Scripture cannot both be true

The Universal Church has never changed it’s doctrine in two millennia. Things have been clarified as needed over time.

That's a good answer; but not to the question posed.
