Active intercession?

Active intercession?

Question: Are the saints in heaven active in the affairs of Earth? Robert Bonsignore, Brooklyn, New York

Answer: Yes, we have a lot of evidence for that. But exactly how and to what extent they are aware and active is not fully known to us.

It seems unlikely that the saints can merely look down and watch us as though they were watching a movie, or that they can know our inmost thoughts. Such things are probably beyond their capacity and might even be considered intrusive of our privacy.

It seems safer to assume that the saints are aware of our needs and condition to the degree that God reveals this to them. Thus, if I am asking St. Anthony to pray for me, his capacity to hear my request is facilitated by the Lord and due to the membership both St. Anthony and I have in the Body of Christ. By analogy, the two members of my body that I call my hands can interact by the fact they are coordinated through my head. Jesus is the Head of the Body, the Church and everything in his Body is under his authority and coordinated by him, including the awareness and communion of various members of the body with each other.

“1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”

“Do really think God is going to burn people who have the Holy Ghost living inside them do you??? “

The Holy Spirit burns sin from the soul. For people who hold on to sin, yes it burns them. It is far better to be burned by the Light of the Holy Spirit than the Fire of God that is in Heaven.

If so, you already have a great deal in common with the Catholic tradition.

As you know, Prots have a LOT in common with Catholicism!

Its just; how shall I put this; when our plates are full of goodies and we get to the end of the buffet table and there sits the punchbowl...

You claim you know of more, but you cannot prove a single sentence.

What?

Have you; AMPU; somehow MISSED all of the Scripture he has posted in this thread??

Ah; all MORMONs tend to be as boastful about their great learning; too.

I’ve just never seen one claim to be PROTESTANT.

(Although; JS sure protested against ALL of Christianity while he was around)

We Christians regardless of what church one attends have to stop fighting each other. It is not Christ-like and there is much against us believers at this time.

That, Biggirl, is the quote of the century. Thank you!

Without that understanding it is impossible to understand the gospels in any real way.

Yup!

Sounds just like Mormonism alright!

Again, I thank you for an excellent post.

#165.

Your quoted scriptures are very close to my actual experiences. Funny thing, I have found that the behaviors identified in quantum physics accurately describe the scriptures. A truth is a truth is a truth. The puzzle fits together very well when you look at it from a higher level.

None of the creeds are in the scriptures, and in fact they are a pollution thereof.

The creeds are part of the “inherited lies wherein there is no profit” called out by Jeremiah.

“It’s too late tonight to take time to correct your misunderstanding of this passage.”

I ask that you elaborate on your post# 168 to ADSUM. I agree with ADSUM and seek to understand your perspective as well.

What is the biblical justification for hijacking threads?

If you step back and look at the greater picture, this thread is an example of how Satan poisons brother against brother and is well worth reading.

This is also what Russia is instigating between the Democrats and Republicans with the fake news trolling.

Divide your enemy against itself by infighting and you will win without raising your sword.

I think my average posts over the last 20 years is like 5 per thread.

FR records total replies and threads we've started, but I do not know if it records to which threads we've be active in; number wise.

You're joking, right? What "biblical support" other than your assertions that anything to do with the Catholic tradition is "of the devil"?

I see your QUOTES; but the word DEVIL was first used in this thread by YOU; in this reply!

So you are willing to accept Catholic Christians as Christians, despite the fact that you may disagree with some of their teachings?

I am.

But JESUS Plus way not fly in some quarters.

As it currently stands, you are little more than uneducated "big talkers" who consider yourselves competent to pontificate on theological doctrine.

Them guys that wrote stuff in the NT; just WHERE did they get their degrees?

I have prayed for evil people with pure Love and good intent while they sat in the same room and at the same table with me. My prayers were silent and not shared with anyone else at the table.

Much to my surprise, I watched as they started sweating, fanning themselves and quickly left the table to go stand outside in the cold as they could not even stand the lower heat of the Holy Spirit.

Heat is the byproduct of the Holy Spirit transmuting evil. The same thing works for evil spirits not in a physical body.

Just as Neals Bohr, the father of atomic physics discovered that an electron descending from a higher orbital to a lower gives off light, so does God’s consciousness when it comes to our level as the Holy Spirit.

On another forum, out of the blue someone “came at me” over the intercession of the saints. I tried, patiently and gently I hope, to defend the notion. After a while, my interlocutor used obscene language.

That seems to me to encapsulate and present the problem. The conversation is not like one among comrades seeking to discern and follow the truth. It's style is antagonistic. The chosen terms are terms of contempt and abuse. This is not about peace but about conquest, not about reconciliation but about humiliation.

Can any good come of this? Some can. I do know that in the years when I contended with our haters my understanding was deepened. My appreciation of Scholastic theology skyrocketed as did my appreciation of the thought of Pope Saint John Paul the Great.

But, for me, it's enough to note the hostility of the objections and from time to time to reconsider the arguments of those arrayed against us. But engagement is only useful as a kind of exercise or drill. This is not conversation.

Blessings to you for your faithful work here.
I very much enjoy Msgr. Pope's work, but if I were his director I would tell him to be quiet for a few months. The desert calls.
