Turning to the future, Brown said technological change and the development of artificial intelligence would transform the concept of the divine.
"We will start to find our spiritual experiences through our interconnections with each other," he said, forecasting the emergence of "some form of global consciousness that we perceive and that becomes our divine".
"Our need for that exterior god, that sits up there and judges us ... will diminish and eventually disappear."

Julian Assange said recently that he has sources in the tech world that say folks truly believe that technology IS God and will replace religion and they are working on ways to recreate the brain, upload consciousness into machines and live forever.
Sounds very far fetched but more and more and more are accepting this as valid.
Sounds like Progressive DemocRAT Wet Dreams.
God will not sit by idly while man desecrates the faith.
It is not an either or thing.
God created man and technology.
It is all part of his plan.
Yep...when I’m looking for Spiritual advice the first guy I think of is Dan Brown.
Resistance is futile.
Artificial Intelligence, forget that. Collective consciousness, there’s something to that because it is exactly what the internet plus essentially every child and adult in the world that plug into it is.
Will replace God? No because it’s just a huge chat room.
Of course we dont. But Dan is espousing an ideology that is really taken hold among serious scientists (albeit atheist ones). Many believe technology truly will eliminate God in our lifetime.
The public policy issue is that a future AI may use drones to enforce compliance with whatever wackadoo dictums are demanded by the elite.
“You just spoke out against the validity of climate change. That is ten years in jail.”
“You failed to properly identify this person as a female. That is five years in jail.”
“You failed to file your income taxes on time. You have one day to make your final arrangements before I return and execute you.”
I do not feel any contempt for an atheist, who is often a man limited and constrained by his own logic to a very sad simplification. G.K.Chesterson.
I confidently predict that Chesterton willl be read long after Dan Brown has been made a footnote.
And that's why the Left hates God - THEY want to be the ones to judge, not Him.
Per my experience this particupar sillinessis is not a thing in Silicone Valley. Atheism and Leftism certainly are, but not the idea that technolgy is God or that the consciousness can be transfered to a machine. Sounds like Hollywood crap.
New Age folks have always been trying to create a humanistic utopia, and now they think technology may get them there.
Mr. Brown, the lake of fire is real and it’s for eternity. Don’t be deceived.
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
Tower of Babel 2.0
Our "Dan Brown" who art in collective consciousness AI be thy name........
Nope.......
Ain't gonna work......
Not for me......
Yes however the rate of expansion of tech and AI is unprecedented in human history. Im not saying I ascribe to this but the transhumanist crowd strongly believes it. Ray Kurzweil and others believe in a singularity.....the point at which tech and AI becomes all powerful....essentially God.
In fact they believe it is part of humanitys natural evolution to become one with tech and even shed our carbon based bodies altogether and live in tech or whatever.
I know it sounds like science fiction. I dont personally believe in it but it is a VERY trendy ideology.
Zardoz
Great reference. A movie truly ahead of its time.
