Cardinal Müller, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, talking to the German writer Martin Mosebach, a strong advocate of the Old Mass, has denied that young priests should know the Old Rite, writes German Radio Vatican.
Müller claimed that the program in the seminaries is already "tight", and that not all seminarians have solid foundations in their Christian faith and prayer life. Therefore, from a pragmatic point of view, one must be happy, if they can handle the regular curriculum - which, in contrast to the Old Rite, often does not promote neither Christian faith nor prayer life.
I’m not catholic, but my dad was. Regardless, this doesn’t seem right to me:
>>> Müller claimed that the program in the seminaries is already “tight”, and that not all seminarians have solid foundations in their Christian faith and prayer life. <<<
Isn’t that sort of the point, of the seminary?
It will happen anyway... or seminarians will learn it from priests who know it. They WANT to learn it.
Every Catholic I know in my town seeks out old rite masses, Latin masses. All think the “pope” is an atheist. Or Communist.
Is someone trying to destroy the Church?
Well, according to the Bible - someone - has been out to destroy ‘the church’ for several thousand years.
But the devil has never had so many disciples before.
I first thought they were speaking of the OT, which also wouldn’t surprise me, which, if they follow the Episcopal route, will soon be, as I’ve met several of their priests over the last few years that hadn’t a clue of what it’s about.
As far as I know it’s still happening at the local seminary. They don’t listen to this Cardinal.
Satan has always been attacking the Church; he will never succeed. Bergoglio will not either.
I’m confused by the OP. Is he saying it shouldn’t be or that it isn’t happening?
Whoever wrote that obviously does not have a grasp of English grammar.
