"Bible Answer Man" Hank Hanegraaff shared an update on his cancer: he has tumors throughout his entire body. When he heard that from doctors, the news hit him with the "force of a sledgehammer."
Still, the Christian Research Institute president and chairman said that he remains optimistic, and recalled how one Christian woman with the same condition told him she felt intimately closer to Christ like never before.
Hanegraaff, who earlier in May said that he has mantle cell lymphoma, a rare form of cancer that will require aggressive chemotherapy, explained that he was traveling in a car in New York, when he received a call from his doctor.
"He told me that I had tumors throughout my entire body. He started talking about tumors in my neck, under my arm pits, in my lungs, in my stomach. The more he talked, the more vacant I felt. At the time I had no frame of reference whatsoever what it meant," the "Bible Answer Man" said in a Facebook video on Monday.
"It hit me with the force of a sledgehammer how could that be possible, when I got my physical a month ago" and such tumors were not discussed, he asked.
"Now the reality is really setting in for me."
Hanegraaff noted that his doctor warned him that he has a rough road ahead battling the cancer, but told him that it's not "the end of the world."
The CRI president thanked all the believers who have been praying for him and sending him encouragement, and detailed the biggest source of encouragement he has received so far, in the form of an elderly woman at church with a similar experience.
Hanegraaff revealed that the church lady, who takes care of 10 special needs children, told him that once she was in the exact same situation, and had to undergo intense chemotherapy after she was diagnosed in her late 60s.
On Mother's Day on Sunday, the woman celebrated her 10th anniversary of being in remission, however, and told him that the most important "C" in "cancer" is Jesus Christ.
"She told me something I never thought I'd hear from someone who has mantle cell lymphoma: 'Hank, I would not replace my experience. It was tough, but I would not replace it for anything. In fact, I would go through it all over again,'" Hanegraaff recalled her saying.
What is more, she told him that she had found an intimacy with Christ that she had "never experienced before."
The "Bible Answer Man" said: "I have optimism in my heart at this point, that God will give me years to continue to do His work," adding that he does not want to waste any moment.
Earlier in May, when revealing the initial news of his cancer, Hanegraaff said that he places his trust in God's hands whatever happens, and that he has been "enveloped in peace" despite the diagnosis.
"Obviously, finding that you have cancer is a blow to the solar plexus. It is a bitter pill to swallow. But all of that becomes very contextualized when you recognize that our dear Lord holds every breath and every moment of my life in His hand," he said.

Now we hear he has cancer.
I think he likes the attention.
That remark tells me more about you than about him.
NAAAH, he just may be ‘coming home’ twice....God bless him.
Carcinoid cancer I assume
The mother of my Goddaughter has this and has since the mid 90s
It’s brutal but some live a very long time with its ebb and flow
You will be very thin though because Sir Charles always gets fed first
Cancer gloms all nutrition it can into dying cells that it’s cannibalizing
You can throw it off changing eating habits but it’ll catch on
Even Ketogenic diet? Ketogenic Diet
I never like to hear of someone getting cancer and I hope that he recovers. But I also would like to see some light shown on Hank Hanegraaff.
Walter Martin founded the Christian Research Institute in 1960 and the Bible Answer Man radio show shortly thereafter. He ran both until his untimely death in 1989. Those who knew Walter Martin, BAM and CRI when Walter Martin created it out of nothing probably know the back story on Hank Hanegraaff.
How Hanegraaff shamelessly manipulated a takeover during Walter’s funeral. How Hanegraaff had absolutely no training nor expertise in apologetics. He was a fundraiser and nothing more. How he fired the many scholars who did the excellent research of CRI when Martin ran it. How Hanegraaff sued many of these scholars to silence their criticisms and concerns. How Hank’s first act upon taking over BAM/CRI was to give himself a substantial pay raise and how over the years he has used it to give himself a very comfortable lifestyle- Martin, the original BAM and the founder of CRI never used them as cash cows and lived modestly.
Walter Martin was a great man. Hank Hanegraaff is a wealthy one. Sorry to hear that he has a cancer.
I was actually informed of this by a FReeper some time back. This was written by a former CRI employee who worked there for 2 years.
He details his experience working for Hank ( I did not realize for instance, that Hank received a salary equivalent to or more than the President of the United States) :
By Perry C. Robinson, former CRI employee (long read)

Someone needs to tell him to look into Turmeric and Hot Tubs. Supposedly they work well on Tumors.
He needs look into mega dozes of Selenium and Raw Bitter Apricot seeds too.
Thanks. I don’t know Perry but I did know a number of CRI people and those who move in those circles long before Hank Hanegraaff ever appeared on the scene.
I don’t know Hank but I’ve known about how treats others for a long time, including his plagiarism of D James Kennedy’s book ‘Evangelism Explosion’ and his subsequent attempt to brand the well regarded Kennedy as some sort of astrology promoting heretic. A lot of people who do know Hanegraaff raise serious questions about his character and honesty and they suspect that his primary motivation has always been money. In their opinion taking over BAM/CRI was just a means to that end.
Apparently one Jay Howard wrote a book on this back story back in 2009, ‘Hard Questions for the Bible Answer Man’. I ran across a youtube interview with him a couple of days ago:

He also said modern Israel won’t be blessed and he believes in replacement theology in addition to being a Preterist.
Hank’s got some real soul-searching to do. I hope he takes back everything he said about Israel personally. Genesis 12:3 is still as valid as ever.
I doubt that Hank takes any theological position seriously. His hijacking of CRI and the BAM program was done entirely for the financial potential that he saw in it. Nothing more than that. He’s not a scholar nor a theologian. None of it was or is of any interest to him other than the monetary opportunity that it presents to him.
Ah, you must be LDS. Martin left some of you very butt-hurt by holding LDS claims up for examination. Calling him a liar and a fraud may make you feel better but that claim is as ignorant as it is baseless.
Martin never made a big deal out of having a PhD, it was irrelevant. But for those like you trying to gin it up as a controversy here’s the story:
“Some opponents have made claims that Martin did not have a valid doctorate. Mr and Mrs Robert Brown of Arizona, two Latter-Day Saints, have stated that California Western University, now known as California Coast University (CCU) was not accredited at the time the degree was awarded. In addition some opponents of Martin claim he purchased his doctorate from CCU, which they claim was a degree mill.
“It must be noted that Martin completed all the coursework at New York University, which is also an accredited school. Furthermore, California Coast University also offers fully accredited programmes,[56] being accredited by the State of California since 1974. Such approval is currently granted by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education. It, however, received national accreditation only in 2005, from the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). It obtained this status after a study by the US General Accounting Office (GAO), which sought to provide national accreditation to schools that offered high quality education, which concluded that CCU was never a diploma mill and never committed wrongdoing.
I too am not a fan of Hank Hanegraaff but I'm sorry to hear about his cancer and I'll be praying for him. I think that Hank still has several issues of which he needs to repent.
I remember StormPrepper as a Mormon apologist on other threads. If someone cannot see the multitude of frauds and falsehoods in the life of Joseph Smith, I have no confidence that he can spot it in someone else. Talk about a blind spot.
