Pentecostals Come Home to Rome Eastern Rome, That Is. Through studying the Church Fathers, an Arizona pastor leads part of his congregation into Catholicism.
TUCSON, Ariz. The phrase Swimming the Tiber has been used to describe Protestants coming into the Catholic Church. But a group of Pentecostals in Arizona are coming home to Rome through Constantinople, leaving their Assembly of God church for the Byzantine Catholic Church.

If I had my druthers I’d be joining them
I’ve attended Eastern Catholic liturgies. If you’re Catholic, you can attend too and receive the Eucharist.

Still a Catholic Church!
me two...long for the church of my youth and it seems it doesn’t exist really...
Reading the article, I realized that I can’t become a Roman or Byzantine Catholic, because I would want my saint to be Dom Justo, aka Takayama Ukon, and he isn’t a saint (yet), though he was beatified last February.
You can take the name of a blessed in Confirmation if I recall correctly so Dom Justo (Takayama Ukon) would be fine.
What is the difference between Byzantine Catholics and Eastern Orthodox?
Yes, that is correct.
“What is the difference between Byzantine Catholics and Eastern Orthodox?”
Well, the essential difference is one group is part of the Catholic Church and the other isn’t. In terms of liturgy, and spiritual practices the two groups are very, very similar to the point of being almost indistinguishable to outsiders in some places in Eastern Europe.
I love BCs AND EOs.
My opinion—— and this is just my opinion, which, with 5 cents, will get you a Hershey’s kiss -— is that the difference between BC and EO is 99.9% jurisdictional.
No real difference in faith and morals. Just a cultural historical divergence.
Others may disagree.
WELCOME AND CONGRATS!
I agree.
Feliz Pascua, Mrs. Don-o. One of our interesting developments here is that Elen the Daughter (19) is thinking of joining the Marine Corps. They are *very* interested in a pretty sharp girl with a year of college. I don’t think they even know she counts as American Indian!
(The Coast Guard recruiters when Anoreth signed up got points for an American Indian.)
Isn’t there a difference in regards to divorce?
Happy Easter Season!
I have a quick question. Last night I had heard for the first time since he became a permanent deacon last year his chanting of “The Easter Proclamation (Exsultet)”.
What is the Eastern Catholic Rite version “The Easter Proclamation”?
Thank-you and God Bless!
Well they have enough false doctrines that it is easy to be led down the wrong path from there. It’s not their believing in miracles and the gifts of The Holy Spirit that is false, but other doctrines. They also have fallen for many false spirits of prophesies and wonders that come from the devil, not God. They are prime candidates for further delusions.
Interesting chart, thanks for the information.
Good fortune to your daughter Elen as she considers joining the military!
Thank you. Anoreth, my oldest, joined the Coast Guard when she was 18, because they told a tiny little girl, 5’1”, 100 lbs., that she could be on the front lines. She always wanted to be in the military.
Elen wants to be a biologist, and we’ll support her if she continues in community college and then transfers to university, etc. However, she wants to build herself up into a confident, independent, responsible person. Anyone can graduate from college: her brother has, and he’s still living at home ...
She wants to push herself, become a leader, maximize her potential. The Marine Corps will do that. We’re a military family, I could go on and on, so it’s just a matter of the best choice for her. I think the Marine Corps could take her from “not at all bad” to “Yo, Wow!” but it’s her decision.
