The unavoidable truth is that many are becoming desensitized. When the Holy Spirit no longer fills hearts and minds with a passion for purity and holiness, there is a general lack of conviction.
Compromise in this area can be well-illustrated through a story I heard years ago.
Eskimos in the barren North often kill wolves by taking a razor-sharp knife and dipping it in blood. They allow the blood to freeze to the blade. Then they bury the handle of the knife in the snow with the blade exposed. As the wolf begins to lick the blade, his tongue becomes numb and desensitized due to the cold. As he continues, his tongue begins to bleed, and he licks even faster—unaware that he is consuming his own blood and slowly killing himself.
Within time, the Eskimos return and bring the dead animal home. In the same way, the enemy numbs us through compromise. Within time, we, like the wolves, don't realize that we are dying—dying spiritually. The enemy desensitizes us until we are numb to the things of God.

I would ask why ANYBODY would watch Fifty Shades Darker. I am not missing your point. And maybe I have no business on this thread since I’m a guy. But the truth is I have no issue with tasteful erotic content. But if someone is going to watch it at least it should be well made.

IMO, this is nothing less that porn and whatever applies to men in this area applies to women as well.
And then there’s those romance novels, which are just as bad to women as porn is to men.
In either case, it’s adultery in the heart and inappropriate for God’s people.
Women need to be held accountable, too.
The whole purpose of the TV and movie producers is to destroy our moral values, with the goal in mind of eliminating all influence that Christianity/Judaism has on our actions.
I’m sure it’s a cultural thing.
It’s the same for the Deaf community.
*Hearing Impaired* is the hearing people’s term for them and they resent it. They do not consider themselves impaired and do not appreciate others labeling them for themselves.
They are Deaf (capital D) or hard of hearing and it is a point of cultural identification for them. That’s what they call themselves and that’s what they prefer.

Good question. Do women find this interesting? Do they tell themselves its just fantasy that they would never get involved in anything like that? Are they solid in their love for their husbands, so that any thought of adultery is unthinkable??
A dear friend, now passed away, had told me that if you are strong in your faith, that you will resist any notion of imitating bad behaviors you see in entertainment media. So that, he was saying, people can watch and enjoy soap operas and not want to emulate the affairs frequently found in such programs. He said people can watch movies with immoral behavior and not go out and participate in such behaviors.
So is that it? If your faith is strong enough then you can resist any immoral illegal or dangerous behavior you see in movies or TV or literature? And you will know its all fiction and not meant to be emulated in real life???

I read these exact words in some novel about WWII fifty five years ago! The exact words!
The problem is that within the church, there's been a push back against the legalism of the recent past and now any call to moral purity or integrity or holiness is called legalism by those who want to have their cake and eat it too.
But God makes it clear that holiness is not an option for His people.
IMO, those who have such a cavalier attitude towards holiness, that they can do whatever they want and it's OK with God, aren't really saved.
Anyone who really grasps what it cost to procure our salvation would not treat it with such contempt.
None of the ones I know are.
Maybe your problem is who you hang out with?

Sin is conceived in the heart before it is born in the actions.
If you are willing to entertain it and even mentally engage in it, it WILL reflect in your life somehow and God is NOT pleased with it.

I think it’s a lie from the enemy to encourage people to engage in things they shouldn’t by telling them they are strong enough.
It chips away at their defenses though and IMO, will be acted on at some point.
And how can someone who is godly enjoy watching other people sin?
Sigh.
Terrible message, terrible writing, HORRIBLE characters, and it glorifies abusive relationships.
I suppose I could make a comment about how the concept of Christian submission to one’s husband has been severely reduced in today’s society, and so women are hunting for anything to fulfill that desire, from government to bad books and movies.
But I am so overwhelmed with disgust right now that I couldn’t really do my thoughts justice.
