Amen.
I thought it was a little strange, but I figured cults are very sensitive about exposure to honest discussion. I am glad someone got real satisfaction by having the thread pulled.
I agree with you. It was very strange of you in reposting a Catholic Caucus thread in order to attack it.
I wasn’t surprised, however.
Claiming we can't keep the Ten Commandments is a cop out. God wouldn't have given them to us, if that were true.
Adam and Eve didn't obey God's one demand and look what happened afterwards.
You illustrate perfectly with Adam and Eve our inability to be 100% compliant.
Just one slip, regardless how small, violates the whole Law and condemns us to death.
Thankfully we have our Advocate who we can confess our sins to.
You say you are Catholic? Check http://www.scborromeo.org/ccc/para/1992.htm
And the other way, breaking the Commandments, is the way if Death:
1 Corinthians 5:9-10
Do you not know
that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?
You are quoting chapter 6, not chapter 5..But anyway,
There's the clincher right there...By cherry picking your picks you ignore the rest of the chapter so you can push your narrative...
Do not be deceived.
Neither fornicators,
nor idolaters,
nor adulterers,
nor boy prostitutes,
nor sodomites,
nor thieves,
nor covetous,
nor drunkards,
nor revilers,
nor extortioners
will inherit the kingdom of God."
1Co 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
1Co 5:12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
Within what??? Within the body of Christ...
1Co 5:13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
God judges those who are outside of the body of Christ...The church judges those who are within the body of Christ...And now, to page 2...
1Co 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Are you suggesting Christians no longer do any of those things you posited??? Of course they do...That list is for the 'unrighteous'...The moment we accept Jesus Christ as our savior we become righteous...We are washed, we are sanctified...Regardless of the sins we commit...
The rest of the Pauline epistles is instruction and encouragement on how to overcome these sins...
And then what does Paul say???
1Co 6:12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
ALL things are lawful, including marriage, divorce and remarriage...
Christians have been judged already and found to be just, by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ...
Rom_8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Do we walk after the flesh because we sin??? Nope, we as Christians walk after the Spirit because the Spirit is in us...Do we fall as Christians??? Of course we do...And Jesus picks us back up only to watch us fall again and again all the way to heaven...
Unrepented, serious sin leads to hell.
But He only does so via the Sacrament of Confession.
But He only does so via the Sacrament of Confession.
Nope. We can go straight to Christ. No need to go through the roman catholic priest.
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;1 John 2:1
Not so. Jesus forgave sins many times, as recorded in the Gospels, without / outside of the Sacrament of Confession.
Even within the Sacramental system, sins are also forgiven in the Sacraments of Baptism and the Anointing of the Sick.
Say a catholic commits a "mortal sin" and dies without benefit of "confessing" to the priest.
Do they go to Heaven or Hell?
If unrepented, the answer is Hell.
9For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,
10and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;
11and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ;
12having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
13When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,
14having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Col 2:9-14
Nope. You’re only forgiving yourself. Christ is not forgiving or absolving you of your sins.
Nope. Youre only forgiving yourself. Christ is not forgiving or absolving you of your sins.
Christ says through the Holy Spirit to John:
9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
The jesus of catholiciism serves as he is told to by the religion who order him around.
But you must confess to a priest and receive his absolution.
Otherwise you’re just fooling yourself.
