September 1, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) In his message for the celebration of World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation today, Pope Francis called on Catholics to go to confession for sins of not being respectful of creation, giving examples of examination of conscience such as avoiding the use of plastic and paper, separating refuse and turning off unnecessary lights. He called on Catholics to have an ecological conversion.
Recalling the year 2000 act of public repentance by Pope John Paul II for sins of religious intolerance, as well as for injustice toward Jews, women, indigenous peoples, immigrants, the poor and the unborn, Pope Francis suggested public repentance by the Church for environmental sins. Let us repent of the harm we are doing to our common home, he said.
The papal message takes as fact questionable climate change extremism as did his encyclical Laudato Si released in June 2015. In the message released today, Francis speaks of devastation of the environment and man-made global warming and climate change.
God gave us a bountiful garden, but we have turned it into a polluted wasteland of debris, desolation, and filth, he said. He warned of the loss of biodiversity and the destruction of ecosystems, often caused by our irresponsible and selfish behavior.
Global warming continues, due in part to human activity: 2015 was the warmest year on record, and 2016 will likely be warmer still, he wrote.
The Pope also proposed adding to the centuries-old tradition of the seven Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy an eighth in each list:
As a spiritual work of mercy, care for our common home calls for a grateful contemplation of Gods world (Laudato Si, 214) which allows us to discover in each thing a teaching which God wishes to hand on to......

Guess whatshisname glommed onto that "theory" as well, eschewing the Commandments and lessons of The Bible, such as idolizing false gods, lying, coveting the neighbor's property and common sense, etc.
As I’m a lousy Catholic, I’m leaving on my air conditioner in rooms I’m not in and leaving lights on in rooms I’m not sleeping in. God will just have to sort me out.
LOL! Unfortunately, Old Sav is on FR condemning the iconic photo of the sailor kissing the nurse in Times Square in 1945. And I ain’t kidding!
I feel sorry for Catholic American Citizens in the sense that they have that feeling twice over.
This is from the Onion, right?
Puppet of Soros!
Hey Francis, this “Oh look a squirrel” act is so done. Get back to preaching the gospel or just SHUT UP!
John Paul II would have some very choice words for this "Pope"...
Now shaddup and do your Pope thang! [From a Lutheran]
Ann Barnhardt is right. Again.
“Ann Barnhardt is right. Again.”
Yep, she’s on him like white on rice, a bit heavy on the sodomite angle, butt hey, this pope ain’t Catholic.
Dump this fake pope!
Frances isn’t what you would call a deep thinker.
hey pope, say pope, the municipal director in my hole of a town silently did away with the recycling program. Do I need a note from the mayor to get to heaven?
The city is probably still getting federal money for the program but it may be one of those wink, wink/ nod, nod things.
How about that Rio. such beautiful water, almost like it was dyed for the olympics
wtf.
Pope Gore, The First of That Name.
I guess the demonic activity has bee slow lately, eh. Just visit the WH. He’ll find all he needs....
Mrs. Don-O, once again I am snared by your snark, a fine line, that. It takes a sharp mind and a eye for the one clue that’s hidden yet obvious. If it weren’t for the nuns and one Episcopalian government/ history teacher, I’d be oblivious to the obvious. Good evening and God bless...
Remember back in the day when popes were actually catholic?
Holy Crap!
Will not comply (and I say this as a Catholic)
