Emmy-winning artist depicts Jesus from Shroud

To create his new DVD, Downing returned to the techniques he first developed in 2010 to animate the 3D image of the face and body seen in the crucified man in the Shroud of Turin.

The Shroud of Turin bears the full-body, back-and-front image of a crucified man that is said to closely resemble the New Testament description of the passion and death of Christ. The 14-foot cloth long has posed mysteries because of its age and its negative image of a bloodstained and battered man who had been crucified. Some believers claim it to be the miraculous image of Jesus, formed as he rose from the dead.

Both have similar narrow and long noses, somewhat unusual, but elegant. Also blue eyes, highly unlikely. Amazing the artists could discern bone structure from the shroud. Both faces are compelling.

Only those who watched the 2+ hour original episode aired in 2010 realize the painstaking work that Ray Downing undertook and incorporated in order to produce as accurate a depiction of the face and actual body of Christ based on the actual shroud.

Not necessarily.

The Jewish race is not as monolitic as most think.

Esau had red hair, as do many Jews today. Blue eyed, light skinned, and fair hair are all characteristics found among some Jews (and Semetic peoples), dating back in time and through today.

It really doesn't matter to me if Christ's eyes were hazel, blue, or brown. The facial structure, however, is painstakingly based on the shroud and years of Downing's research. He depicted Jesus with brown eyes in the 2010 episode (if I recall correctly).

I am amazed that I am looking at such an accurate depiction of our Lord.
