40 Sins that WILL send you to Hell... UNLESS you repent and are saved by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and which is a faith that follows Him. (Jn. 10:27,28)
Short summation: Sin is defined in the Bible as the breaking of God's Law. (1Jn. 3:4) God has given us both good things and good laws, which are to our benefit when obeyed. But we have broken God's good laws and misused His good things, to our own hurt and that of others. It is sin which separates man from God (Is. 59:2), who will not dwell with sin (Ps. 5:4), and lost sinners will go to Hell because they are sinners, and will suffer punishment relative to their degree of accountability and guilt. (Mt. 25:41,46; Lk. 10:13-15, 12:47,48; Rev. 20:11-15)
Yet God offers redemption on His expense and merit, that of His only Divine sinless Son, the Lord Jesus, who after doing everything right, took responsibility for our disobedience and suffered/died for sin, "the just for the unjust, to bring us to God." and then rose again as man's present savior and future judge. (1Pt. 3:18,19,22) Therefore, while sin damns the soul, the Ultimate Sin is to reject the only Savior from sin, the risen Lord Jesus. A person who turns in his heart to the Lord Jesus from sin, trusting Him for salvation, is forgiven, "born again," and adopted by God on Christ's expense (His own sinless blood) and righteousness. And while Christians are not sinless, they are characterized by following Jesus, and repenting when they realize they have not.
For more on how to be saved, keep reading after this section.
Note: This is only a partial list of sins (here is an attempt at a much longer one, while here is a list of most capital crimes seen in Scripture). A short list of sins - which include willful thoughts (Mk. 7:21-23) - would be idolatry, profanity, contempt of parents and authority in general, murder, adultery, theft, fornication, lusts, while many more follow below. And which serve to help reveal how great a sinner man is, with the Ultimate Sin (see #40) being that of rejecting the LORD Jesus Christ, the Divine Son of God. Whom the Father sent to be "the Savior of the world" (1Jn. 4:14), and "who loved me and gave Himself for me" (Gal. 2:20).
1. IDOLATRY - the making of any created thing to be your "god;" settings your ultimate love upon, finding your ultimate security in, or giving your ultimate allegiance to any created thing(s), whether material, human, or formal false religious gods. Attributing uniquely divine attributes to created entities or things; worshiping such as God. Idolatry is a a sin of atheism as by necessity it effectively makes "gods" out of created things. (Is. 45:18; Ex. 20:3 Dt. 5:7; 6:5,14; 17:2-7; 27:15; Acts 21:25; 1 Cor. 5:11; 12:2; 2 Cor. 6:16; 1 Thes. 1:9; 1 Jn. 5:21; Rev. 2:14,20; 9:20) |
2. BLASPHEMY - attacking or otherwise showing disrespect toward God and His character, in word or deed. Includes charging God, who alone is eternal, infallible, omnipotent and omniscient, and does what is right (especially in the light of eternity), with being immoral. Such as many angry atheists do, effectively presuming omniscience and superior wisdom and judgment. (Lv. 24:16; 1Ki. 21:10; Mt. 12:31; Acts 26:11; James 2:7) |
3. TAKING THE NAME OF GOD IN VAIN - misusing or misappropriating God's name and authority for any purpose, such as invoking the name of God/Christ to give authority to the unholy curses or purposes of man. Includes falsely speaking prophecy in the name of the LORD. It is a form of the sin of profanity. (Lv. 19:8,12; Dt. 18:20a; 20:7; Jer. 20:1-6; 28:1,2,10-17;29:24-32) |

5. BEING A FALSE PREACHER - one who entices others to practice false religion, to go after other gods; apostasy, or which teach contrary to salvific Scriptural Truths. (Dt. 13:6-12; Mt. 23:15; Acts 13:10; 2Cor. 11:13-15) Akin to the sin of misdirecting people, from making the blind wander out of the way to maliciously giving false directions. (Dt. 27:18; Mt. 15:14) |
6. WITCHCRAFT - the practice of witches; occultic magic: Ouija boards, astrology, palmistry, necromancy, divination, etc.; also likened to rebellion. (Ex. 22:18; Lv. 19:31; 20:6,27; 1Sam. 15:23) See here. |
7. CHILD SACRIFICE TO IDOLS, FALSE GODS (see #1) - basically includes abortion (most of which are done for convenience), or directing them to laws and ideologies contrary to God's word, and which directs them on the path of damnation. (Lv. 18:21; 20:2; Dt. 12:31; 18:10) |
8. REBELLION AGAINST PARENTS - Cursing, disrespect, or constant rebellion against parents (except where obedience is required due to conflict with God's word) (Ex. 20:12; 21:15, 17; cf. Lv. 20:9; Dt. 21:18; 27:16) |
9. DISOBEDIENCE TO AUTHORITY - Disobedience to just judgments by God-ordained authority. (Dt. 17:9,10a, 11b,12; Josh 1:18; Rm. 13:1-7; 1Pet. 2:13,14) |
10. MURDER - premeditated killing with malice; intentional unlawful and or unjust killing of another human; homicide with malicious forethought. (Ex. 21:12-14: Lv. 24:17; Num. 35:31; Dt. 19:11,12; Jn. 8:44; 1 Tim. 1:9; 1 Pet. 4:15; 1 Jn. 3:15) Includes murdering one in their thoughts. (Mk. 7:21) |
11. NEGLIGENT HOMICIDE - death of another caused by one's own negligence. (Ex. 21:29) |
12. HOMOSEXUAL RELATIONS - sexual activity between persons of the same gender; seeking to join same genders in marriage (cf. here and here (Lv. 18:22; 20:13; Rm. 1:26,27; 1 Tim. 1:10) |
13. EFFEMINANCY - men unnaturally taking on female characteristics and behavior, contrary to the distinctive nature of opposite genders God created, and thus their complimentarity. (1 Cor. 6:9; cf. Dt. 22:5) |

16. FORNICATION - sexual intercourse before marriage: also adultery and spiritual unfaithfulness. (Gn. 34; Mt. 19:9; Mk. 7:20-23; Acts 15:20; 21:25; Rm. 1:29; 1 Cor. 5:1,11; 6:13,19; 7:2; Gal. 5:19; Eph. 5:3; Col. 3:5; 1Thes. 4:3; Rev. 9:21; 14:8; 17:2,4; 18:3; 19:2); |

32. ENVYINGS - feeling displeasure at the excellence or prosperity of another because you feel you should have it also. A cousin to jealousy, selfishly feeling what others have belongs to you instead. (Num. 16:3,7; Mt. 27:18; Mk. 15:10; Rm. 1:29; Phil. 1:15; 1Tim. 6:4; Titus 3:3; 1Pet. 2:1) |

37. EXTORTION - forced extraction of money, sex, things, by manipulation; coercion. (1 Cor. 5:11; Lk. 18:11; Mt. 7:15) |
38. REFUSING TO FORGIVE - holding a grudge, harboring personal resentment, a bitter spirit against persons due to past injuries (see Hurt and Resentment); pressing charges in heart, especially despite ignorance or repentance on the other person's part. (Lv. 19:18; Mt. 6:12-15; 18:23-35; Heb. 12:15) This does not exclude bringing issues to a person or the church that should be addressed as being wrong in principle, and in the interest of peace and righteousness, (cf. Mt. 18:15-17) but a forgiving spirit, not a resentful one, is required in the light of God's forgiveness of us, and not seeking satisfaction for injuries is the higher standard. (Lk. 23:34; Acts 7:50; 1Co. 6:7) |
39. EVIL THOUGHTS - any evil thoughts, or imaginations, including unwarranted suspicions; seeking vengeance; illicit sex fantasies; planning evil. (Mk. 7:21; Mt. 9:4; James 2:4) |
40. THE ULTIMATE SIN OF DAMNATION - Rejecting the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, and the only One who can save you from all your sins. |
John. 3:18, 36 - He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on Him. "In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day" (2Thes. 1:-10). |
And yes, being a liberal is contrary to being a Christian. One may be a conservative and not be a Christian, but one cannot be a Christian and not be a conservative.
Ping
Well then we’re all doomed because either by word, thought or deed we’ve committed them; however, Yeshua has paid the price for those sins. We repent and worship the Savior of the World then He is faithful to forgive us our sins.
Looks like there will be lots of room in Heaven while Hell will be overflowing ...
The sin you were born with qualifies you for hell unless the Holy Spirit redeems you.
Great Sunday morning post -
And to see how far off the rails Western Civilization and the world has gone, read how Norway takes away CHRISTIAN children from their parents who abide by the bible:
http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3368954/posts
Outright rejection of reason, justice and anything Judeo-Christian accelerates.
Doesn’t seem there can be much time left...
Amen. I won’t and can’t add anything to what Jesus Himself said in John 3:36:
“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them”
Doesn’t matter if you stole from the cookie jar or raped and chopped someone’s head off. Anything accounted differently is just redemption by works. Tough for us humans to grasp.
How many of these do you think that Barack Hussein Obama mm,mm,mm, has NOT done?
IF ‘sedition’ is a sin, baby, the American people are gonna be doin’ a whole lot of it, with this diseased, malevolent, irreverant bunch of folks, including their aides, in Washington, D.C.!!!
Not so.
Proverbs 27:20
Hell and Destruction are never full;
So the eyes of man are never satisfied.
Luke 14:23
Then the master said to the servant, âGo out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.’
Which is what the page says...
There is nothing in your quotes about the population of heaven and, while hell may never be full, there will - following that broad condemation of human behavior - be an awlful lot of us there.
Going to heaven requires only 2 things: faith and belief in G_D. The rest is fixable.
Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled: (Isaiah 5:14-15)
"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord." (Acts 3:19)
*Sigh* Just agreeing.
Cookie jar vs murder...
Even though both can be forgiven, that doesnt mean that rewards and losses are going to be the same for both actions, in fact we know they won’t be. We also know in the temporal world consequences for them are not equal either.
No one is born guilty of sin, but they do possess a sinful nature, and by which they sin, and will be punished in accordance with the wrong choices they could make, contrary to the level of grace given them. Even rejecting the Scriptural light one has by nature is in essence rejecting Christ.
Arrogance is the worst sin and it is manifest in two ways.
Legalism and Lasciviousness.
Legalism leads to moral degeneracy, while lasciviousness leads to immoral degeneracy..
The real issue is salvation by grace though faith alone in Christ alone.
Nobody is sent to the Lake of Fire because of their sins. We are ALL condemned prior to salvation.
All believers are able to sin, just as unbelievers are able to sin, because we have volition and an old sin nature.
Believers who sin are not sent to Hell. They have already been saved and part of the family of God, sealed unto salvation.
There may be those who are legalistic and academically trained in theology, but reject faith alone in Christ alone at the call of the Father, who don’t receive another chance, lest they crucify Christ twice.
Obedience to His Word manifests a type of faith in Him, but obedience in the sake of performing a good work to obtain salvation doesn’t exhibit a saving faith, but instead attempts to make God a debtor.
It’s been said, it only takes a smidgeon more faith than no faith at all, to have saving faith. It is only as difficult as we make it, because we perform absolutely no work in exercising faith in Him. He has performed all the work and our faith is His work in us.
So by inference, all Jews, people who never heard Gospels and babies that were murdered will go to hell? How can you deny what you’ve never heard of and if you heard it would you believe it, even God’s chosen people?
The quote about the house being full is a parable clearly referencing Heaven. God will keep adding citizens to Heaven until it is full. Here is the full passage of that parable:
Luke 14:15-24
Now when one of those who sat at the table with Him heard these things, he said to Him, “Blessed is he who shall eat bread in the kingdom of God!”
Then He said to him, “A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’ But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’ And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.’ Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’ So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.’ And the servant said, ‘Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.’ Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.’”
There is a set number of people who will be in Heaven, which is a number only God knows or can count.
Revelation 7:9
After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb...
No more room in Heaven:
Revelation 12:7-9
And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Recognizing that is the key.
Because that’s what the Law was intended to do so that we could turn to Christ and be saved by faith.
Some people seem to think God gave us the Law so that we would keep it and by keeping it, we could merit heaven.
But it’s a schoolmaster to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.
All in Galatians 2&3.
That’s correct, but sin will land you in hell, whatever the sin is.
As James says, if offend in one point of the Law, you are guilty of it all.
