AFTER SCIENTOLOGY, LEAH REMINI FINDS COMFORT IN RETURN TO CATHOLICISM
Breitbart ^ | November 5, 2015

Posted on 11/06/2015 11:42:49 AM PST by NYer

Former Scientologist and King of Queens star Leah Remini said she has found “amazing” comfort in returning to the Catholic Church after leaving Scientology two years ago, contrasting Scientology’s abusive policies with Christianity.

During an interview with Howard Stern Tuesday morning, the 45-year-old actress said she was so happy to be “reconnecting” to the faith of her childhood.

Initially, Stern tried to lump all religions together as equally fanatical, but Remini jumped in, telling the shock jock he was making a big mistake.

“I’ve come to the conclusion in my life that all religions are sorta nutty,” Stern said. “And, you know, I just don’t get it sometimes, and so I don’t even single Scientology out any differently than Christianity or Judaism.”

“But you should,” cut in Remini, referencing Scientology abuses such as heavy commitments in finances and time, as well as its policies that break up families and friendships.

Remini said that it was a joy to get back to the faith in which she grew up.

“My grandmother lived on Elizabeth Street in Little Italy, and she used to go to church every day,” Remini told Stern. “She’d go in, light a candle, she’d pray, and as a child, that was comforting to me.”

“She’d go pray and do the sign of the cross on her forehead. She’d pray to this one and pray to that one if she lost her keys. It was always very comforting to me to have faith in something.”

“It wasn’t pushed on me like it was pushed on you,” she told Stern.

Remini said being back in the Catholic Church has been an “amazing” comfort to her.

“Now that I’m older and out of the Church [of Scientology], I’m reconnecting to a faith where I can go in and light a candle,” she said. “I have always been spiritual.”

Yes, Christ taught ONE Truth.

Just however, as God did not prevent Israel from worshipping false gods, he also does not prevent the Catholic church itself from error.

DON”T put your faith in the church (of ANY ilk), put it in Christ Jesus.

This is the problem with ANY organized religion — We should worship God ONLY. We should put our faith in God ONLY. Not in deacons, priests, popes, or televangelists.

Na. Howard Stern is adored by God - and He is waiting patiently with a merciful heart for Howy to realize that, repent, and come back!

If you admit Christ taught ONE truth that settles it. It cannot be the “truths” of every Tom, Dick, and Harry, who pick sup a bible and purports to offer “their” interpretation of God’s Word (written and unwritten per John 21: 25) Surely, Christ did not mean to mislead the early Church fathers who assembled His written word, or the theologians, saints, and martyrs for over 2000 years and well before the plague of Protestantism came ashore and brought with it a deluge of contradictory and heretical beliefs.

She’s traded a Xenu, L. Ron Hubbard - based system for a Christ-based system.

Okay. Indulgences haven’t been “sold” since the 1550’s (or before), and it’s Catholic dogma that only works done with the aid of grace are meritorious in any sense.

He taught ONE Truth.

This is not about Catholic vs Protestants and your and my opinion.

This is about God.

I put my faith in Christ Jesus.

God’s church is determined by God, not by men. No man can excommunicate another from God’s divine plan.

Each church run by man has some error - that is not the question - I assume that you are trying to imply that the Catholic church has not ever been in error? If it has been in error, then why did God allow that if it’s His church? You see, until the Christ is on the throne, there WILL be error, and all churches are in one manner or another in error. This does not destroy faith in God, it is upsetting only to those whose faith is in wrong thing.

As ye judge, so shall ye be judged. (before I would pronounce others a plague that verse should cause you to reflect on the fact that we all can be in error, and if you judge another in error, what will mercy will be applied to you?)

"If you admit Christ taught ONE truth that settles it. It cannot be the "truths" of every Tom, Dick, and Harry, who picks up a bible and purports to offer "their" interpretation of God's Word . . ."

Don't forget me!!!

I got a message straight from God (convenient, eh?) saying I could have plural wives and if my wife didn't like it, woe be unto her!!

Making up your own religion rocks!!

You keep affirming that there are “many” truths. That “each” man can discern for himself “his” own truth. This is absolute rubbish. Christ commanded His apostles “to go forth and teach...” He established ONE Church. This is to teach ONE truth for all nations for all ages. If the Catholic Church is not that ONE Church, then by your lights ALL of the early Church fathers, theologians, saints, and martyrs ALL got it wrong. This is too absurd a proposition to be taken seriously. It also defies explanation on the 10001 other contradictory and heretical Protestant faiths. Most of all, what you are saying is that all those leading non-Catholic theologians who after years of serious study and who converted to Catholicism, all got it wrong.

In short we are all wrong and you got it right!

>>She’s traded one works based system and has embraced another works based system.”<<

Really?

Yep.

Question: Why does the Roman Catholic Church teach the doctrine of “works righteousness,” that through good works one can earn salvation?

We've wondered that for a while ourselves.

Answer: The Catholic Church has never taught such a doctrine and, in fact, has constantly condemned the notion that men can earn or merit salvation. Catholic soteriology (salvation theology) is rooted in apostolic Tradition and Scripture and says that it is only by God’s grace—completely unmerited by works—that one is saved.

Wow....this is news to many of us Christians on the board. We've often been told how hard it is to be a catholic.

You have to do this, do that, be here, be there, etc, or else you're not a good catholic.

You illustrate my point with the remainder of your comments.

Any mention of Christ in this statement? I hope she is a believer in Him.

Read my reply again and honestly tell me If I said there were many Truths.

When you falsely accuse someone, that is a sin.

I say there is ONE Truth, but man cannot be perfected on earth. Thus, there are no SINLESS men on earth, even AFTER they come to faith in Christ Jesus.

Therefore, Pastors, Deacons, Popes, Priests, and Parishioners all are capable of sin.

There is ONLY one TRUE Church, and it belongs to God. Not a man, priest, pope, imam, etc.

The disciples and church fathers established the faith — that does NOT mean that successors are in the will of God....Again, do you or do you not admit that Catholic Church has been in error?

You are in a quandary here, because the Catholic church has officially admitted error. In just one of these official admissions, it was in 1992 (350 years later) that the Pope’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences Un-Condemmed Galileo.

The ONLY thing I “got right” is that man is incapable of sinless perfection here on earth, even though we are to take it as our goal - we should strive for perfection, instead of winking at corruption in our lives, and in the administration of God’s church.

Apostolic succession and Tradition are proofs of made of anything but Man’s hubris.

A guy who does animal dial a date on the radio thinks all religions are sorta nutty. Animal dial a date for those of you who don’t remember, involved a contestant who had buggered a German Shepherd. Got Stern summarily fired if I recall.

The NT is ample proof that the chaotic situation you attribute to Protestantism existed long before Luther troubled the waters. God allows troublers and antichrists, were supposed to test them via the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

“worship of Mary “

Never heard a Catholic worship Mary. Give thanks, but never worship.

People like you that claim to know exactly what a Christian is usually are never one themselves. They think they are, but they violate every tenant of the Bible in doing so. the “Born-Again” types are the worst of the lot. get a room full of those in a room and according to them no one else is a Christian because the rest do not believe and practice faith exactly they way they do.
