The New York Times ^ | September 24, 2015 | Vivian Yee

He may be the world’s foremost Catholic, but to his fans, Pope Francis is more the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. than Pope Benedict XVI. He speaks, and millions listen — whether they are Muslim or Baptist, Hindu or atheist.

Why big crowds?

Is popularity the metric for good? Is the Judgement a vote?

Reminds me of a child saying, “Everyone ELSE is doing it!”

And yet Pope Francis says, “You ask me if the God of the Christians forgives those who don’t believe and who don’t seek the faith. I start by saying – and this is the fundamental thing – that God’s mercy has no limits if you go to him with a sincere and contrite heart. The issue for those who do not believe in God is to obey their conscience.

“Sin, even for those who have no faith, exists when people disobey their conscience.”

Hmmm so is not what God’s law is, eh? Its when you “disobey” your conscience. That sounds like moral relativity to me; sort of like “do what thou wilt” in the Satanic bible. Then lately he says there’s other ways to get to heaven other than through Jesus. I don’t know which book he’s reading but my bible clearly states (in John 14:6), “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

I wouldn’t imagine a true man of God, filled with the holy spirit would say these things, especially not the highest level religious leader in the Catholic Church. I would expect it from a deceiver though.

The question I have is, why is Pope Francis drawing the crowds?

Because a large chunk of the population doesn't know beans about anything and/or is just downright stupid. If you ask the average schmo on the street in any large city who the VP of the US is, over half wouldn't be able to tell you.

this “pope” is a MARXIST sympathizer who did little to help the empoverished in his country and kept his mouth shut during the DISPPEANCES in Argentina.... for his own safety..

Now he struts areound like he is a celebrity, just like obama.... same mindset

he thinks rather highly of himself and ventures into the political arena...WHERE HE DOES NOT BELONG.. and spouts off about the BIGGEST HOAX EVER PERPETRATED ON THE WORLD...GLOBAL WARMNING....

his plane trip generated 500000+ lbs of co2.... the trip to CUBA where the Castros have thousands of political prisoners...which he did not say peep about..
the muslim world wants to MURDER HIM...
the UN loves him as do all nwo and commie interests...

HE SAYS nothing about obama’s persection of christians
AND EXACTLY WHERE IS HE A LEADER..... ?? IN WHAT??

I guess this is what happens when a religion is based only on a few names and randomly chosen ideas in the bible but not on what the bible actually says. It starts out sounding similar to Christianity but look at how it ends up.

I sense the real reason why there are those who do not like Pope Francis is because they MISS Pope Benedict Emeritus, who because of advanced age, possible ill heath, and maybe just plain tired, stepped down.

What did they estimate yesterday in DC? About 11K to see the pope? that’s not a big crowd by any stretch of the imagination for DC events.

Trump's pulled more than that a few times already.

Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
Romans, Catholic chapter two, Protestant verses one to sixteen,
