And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. (Revelation 13:11)
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.( I John 4:1)
Jesus warned us that one of the scourges of the last days; endangering and threatening his church and deceiving the world in the last days, would be the proliferation of false prophets.
The desperately needed Word of God, as sounded forth by those few choice true servants of God would have to compete with the din of the voices of hundreds pseudo Prophets, holding forth false words to deceive the multitudes who would otherwise repent and be saved, in some cases.
The last days would be characterized by them, according to Jesus; And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many .And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.(Matthew 24:4-5,11-12)
The apostles commanded not to simply accept on face value, but rather to test prophets, i.e. to try the Spirits, to see whether they be of God. There are specific God ordained tests that we should apply to any who come in Jesus name claiming to bring the Word of God.
The first test is the examination of manifestations and predictions
And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.(Deuteronomy 18:21-22)
A Prophet who makes predictions in the name of the Lord which fails to come to pass, is a false prophet and should not be regarded. True Prophets are accurate 100 percent of the time.
The second test involves the teaching of the prophet.
If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.(Deuteronomy 13:1-3)
Moses holds forth the possibility that a false prophet can indeed make predictions which are or appear to be validated(Even a broken clock is right twice a day!), or at times a false prophet can perform signs.
In that case examine the teachings that the prophet brings forth, and judge by them.In fact, the teaching is far more significant than the manifestation which accompanies the prophet.
Obviously no prophet is likely to come into a Christian Assembly and call upon people to openly worship another God. What Moses is saying that if you listen closely to the teaching of the prophet, you realize that it is a distortion of the Words of the only true God, and in effect is a false god, but in the guise of the true God.
The god of Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland and Todd Bentley is not the God of the Bible, even though they say it is.These men are false teachers and they lead people into the worship of false gods.
In view of these two tests, let us examine the Pope.
Does Pope Francis have manifestations which accompany his ministry ? Newser reports;
Pope Francis was credited with what could be deemed a half-miracle in Naples, Italy, on Saturday, although it didnt involve bringing anybody halfway back to life or turning water halfway into wine. Instead, the normally-solidified blood of St. Gennaro, the citys patron saint, half-liquefied when the pope kissed the glass ampoule it was held in, according to the archbishop of Naples. After the archbishop told the congregation that the blood had changed consistency, showing the saints love for Naples and the pontiff, Francis said, We can see the saint only half loves us. We must all spread the word, so that he loves us more, according to the Catholic Herald.
The saint was martyred in AD305, and the faithful have long believed that if they pray enough, the blood preserved in the ancient relic will become liquid on the three feast days a year when its put on display, although skeptics believe the change in storage conditions or ancient chemicals in the ampoule could explain the miracle, NBC News reports. But it doesnt always liquefy: The blood last changed consistency in the presence of a pontiff when Pius IX visited Naples in 1848; it didnt liquefy even halfway for John Paul II in 1979 or Benedict XVI in 2007.
This account of one of the miracles of Pope Francis, just how dark, and superstitious the Catholic church really is at its core. Jesus and the apostles performed many miracles, healing the sick, cleansing lepers, even raising the dead, but liquefying dries blood? Kissing the blood of previous saints? This isnt Christian, it is pagan!
As for the second test, the teaching of the Pope, consider this quote from Jews News,
On Monday the Bishop Of Rome addressed Catholic followers regarding the dire importance of exhibiting religious tolerance. During his hour-long speech, a smiling Pope Francis was quoted telling the Vaticans guests that the Koran, and the spiritual teachings contained therein, are just as valid as the Holy Bible.
Jesus Christ, Mohammed, Jehovah, Allah. These are all names employed to describe an entity that is distinctly the same across the world. For centuries, blood has been needlessly shed because of the desire to segregate our faiths. This, however, should be the very concept which unites us as people, as nations, and as a world bound by faith. Together, we can bring about an unprecedented age of peace, all we need to achieve such a state is respect each others beliefs, for we are all children of God regardless of the name we choose to address him by. We can accomplish miraculous things in the world by merging our faiths, and the time for such a movement is now. No longer shall we slaughter our neighbors over differences in reference to their God.
The Koran, a book which tells us that God has no Son, is the same as the Bible? How could anyone with any sense accept this? How could he equate Allah and Jehovah, Jesus and Mohammed? Notice the Popes emphasis on peace, something which the entire world longs for.
But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.( I Thess 5:1-3)
What is this Peace the Pope promotes? This is the very Peace that leads directly to everlasting destruction. True peace can only come about when men find peace with God through their the cleansing and forgiveness of the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. All other peace plans will prove to be anti-Christ and are doomed to failure.
I see you are misrepresenting Christianity as easily as pastor bill spreads phony slander.
Oh, baloney.
This pope is a piece of work.
I see that Catholics don’t have any problem claiming that non-Catholic preachers are false prophets and clearly don’t expect to be called *haters* and *bigots* or be accused of *latent bigotry*.
Catholics need to unwind more than a bit and stop applying the double standard they love to use so much.
How Christlike........
NOT!!!!!
Is that how Catholics treat someone who confesses of a sin and repents of it?
Do you want to put him in stocks so people can throw rotten tomatoes at him, too?
And who are you to determine if some one is showing *true repentance*?
Swim the Tiber? Not in a million years..... Who needs that kind of *love*?

If you have another original source for this quote (such as the transcript of a speech he gave posted on vatican.va, zenit.org, or some other reputable source), if you can provide that source, I'd appreciate it.
As for whether National Report is a satire site, most people should be able to tell this by simply looking at the headline banner:
But if that's not good enough, they have the following disclaimer:
National Report is a news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways. All news articles contained within National Report are fiction, and presumably fake news. Any resemblance to the truth is purely coincidental. Advice given is NOT to be construed as professional. If you are in need of professional help, please consult a professional. National Report is not intended for children under the age of 18.If you can provide me with a reputable source, I'll look at it, otherwise, it appears that you got trolled, my FRiend...
BTW, for the record (and as my posting history for the past several months will show), I am not a fan of this pope...
“I see you are misrepresenting Christianity as easily as pastor bill spreads phony slander.”
If you don’t know the Scriptures, I cannot help you FRiend.
bump
Unfortunately, this kind of thing happens on the Interwebs all the time - and even major news organizations are taken in by it.
Metmom, I am not roman catholic.
And really, shame on you for defending lies.
I would feel the same disgust at someone pushing false quotes into the mouths of a protestant leader and would fight against it just as strongly.
The media constantly pushes false titles and false narratives about Christian leaders.
And it’s becoming a big problem here — remember all the articles being posted that claimed the pope personally wrote a letter endorsing gay books?
We need higher standards in this place, especially with articles that affect people’s opinion on religion.
And a pastor should be far more careful about what he pushes as a trusted authority. Wonder if he mailed out the lies to his flock?
Probably all freepers have concerns about this pope’s statements that conflict with historic Christianity.
That doesn’t make it ok to make crap up and slander people cause you want to believe it.
That site is currently down, but "washingtonpost.com" is a real (albeit left wing) news site; "washingtonpost.com.co" is a fake, satire site.
Now, of course, if you can provide a link to a real source (Vatican, Zenit, CNA, etc), I'll happily withdraw my comment.
Just saw this...
May I suggest that you ask to have the article pulled and then replace it with something that is accurate?
(BTW, I’ve been taken in my “trolling” sites before)
I’m not defending lies, but neither am I attacking with lies someone who has confessed to being wrong and asked forgiveness for it.
What else do you want out of someone?
Isn’t that enough for you or does nobody measure up to your ridiculous standards?
Read ahead and don’t be such a jerk.
“I admit I was taken in, but I have never had anything but love for Catholics. Are you taking advantage of my humble confession of guilt? Do you have latent Malice against me?”
Sounds good, I also have had to message moderators in embarassment at having been taken in by a false article.
I am just tired at the volume of false postings on this pope.
It’s out of hand on this site.
And I say that as someone with strong doubts about his orthodoxy.
Excuse me. I wasn’t replying to you.
