Filmmaker, evangelist and renowned bible prophecy teacher Joel Richardson says it is a time of change for the church, especially when it comes to teachings about the End Times and the rapture. The author of the New York Times bestseller The Islamic Antichrist recently appeared with Joe Schimmel on Rick Wiless TruNews radio program to discuss the what he believes is the false doctrine of a pre-tribulation rapture.
Wiles himself supports the post-tribulation position, stating, I personally do not believe that by the year 2020, any credible person will be teaching the secret pre-trib rapture doctrine. I think the events that are coming in the next five years will utterly destroy the doctrine.
The pre-tribulation school of thought has been an important force in American Christianity for decades, with proponents such as Hal Lindsey, Tim LaHaye and Thomas Ice. This school holds believers will be raptured before the great tribulation during the End Times, thus avoiding it. In contrast, Richardson believes the rapture will not occur until during the tribulation period. Thus, believing Christians will not be spared the persecution and calamities of the End Times.
Richardson is featured on a DVD exploring the issue entitled Left Behind or Led Astray? During the film, Richardson explains what he sees as the crucial importance of the issue.
Its one of the premiere pastoral issues of our day. If youre a pastor thats not preparing your people to face potentially the Antichrist and the Great Tribulation, in this hour, simply because your denomination teaches it or whatever, personally I think youre failing in your role as a shepherd and a pastor.

I think rapture myths are being used to control gullible well meaning christians to not taking action. Why change things if god is gonna teleport you to heaven like scotty in star trek.
It is kind of the default position. I wish it were true, but what about the Christians in Iraq being slaughtered -we tend to think as Americans we won’t face the tribulation or persecution but historically believers have faced terrible trials.
Pre-trib rapture doctrine never made sense according to scriptures. Never could figure out why so many believe it.
Grew up believing what I was taught. Went to college and started reading the Bible and studying on my own. Been a post-tribber for 39 years. Occam’s razor and simply reading the text.
Hal Lindsey taught that, while his interpretation of Scripture led him to be “Pre-Trib”, many Godly and knowledgeable Christian teachers were “Mid-Trib” and some even “Post-Trib”.
I see Scriptures which support various interpretations. Personally, I lean toward Mid-Trib, deeming it better to be prepared rather than have a rude awakening. If I’m wrong and Pre-trib is correct, then it will be a pleasant surprise.
God’s goal for us in NOT a cushy life; it is to conform us to the image of Christ. He will do what is best for us, not that which is easiest for us.
We assume the rapture occurs out of the blue when all is good. The question for me the past few years is how bad could it be when and if it occurs. There could be unprecedented persecution before the rapture and then really unprecedented persecution afterwards. The economy could be a wreck before the rapture and sin could be rampant before the rapture.
My church was evangelical, literalist, full immersion, “don’t add or take away”, no instruments, bareback pews ...
But I don’t remember being taught or Bible study with any of this rapture/tribulation/holy roller stuff.
Darby’s system has taken over many churches. It misleads people into thinking they will find Christ in secret “Bible codes” and in numerology tricks.

That and the coming of the 12th I’m am. These were ideas from the dark ages.
Kent Hovind has just put up a whole series on his version of post-trib on his youtube channel, makes a lot of sense.
Pre-tribulation is the default position.
Unfortunately.
Darby also gave us the sloppy 70 week “gap theory”.
Yes, that's right. I haven't chosen which one to believe.
Must recheck my booklets 88 REASONS WHY THE RAPTURE WILL BE IN 1988!
Bummer! I have been left behind with all the others!
We face human persecution and slaughter, but The Tribulation is God’s wrath, which if you’re a christian you have been saved from;which is why I believe in a pretrib rapture.
My point?
Christians in several countries around the world are already going through the tribulation, and it has gotten significantly worse for those in the Middle East and North Africa in the last four years. Their men are killed. Their women raped. Their children sold into slavery. Some are given a choice to convert to Islam (and they refuse and get matured for Christ), most just get directly slaughtered.
Which makes me wonder what doctrine is this that makes American Christians believe that their lot is to magically vanish, leaving behind empty clothes, dental fillings and jewelery, when it is obvious around the world that other Christians are not going through a Star Trek experience.
I am not willing to go as far as saying that American Christians are getting deceived, but I will most definitely say that a large number will get a very nasty surprise.
Please see my post 18. Christians around the world are already going through major tribulations. Biblical level tribulations. I am confused as to what makes some Christians think they will be exempt.
Get matured for Christ = get matyred for Christ.
