And there is a big difference between posting about someone converting into your church, and posting an article damning the members of someone else’s as Hell bound pagans.

But it is because so many conservative RCs hold to the classic RC doctrine that all outside Rome are as Hell bound pagans (or as just yesterday when one affirmed we were dead if we did not believe in the Real Presence) then provokes refutation AKA flame baiting. Which for so many RC devotees is anything that impugns their church.

While refutation was too often, it should not be banned. And if it is then it needs to be defined. I think a quota system of two per week would be more reasonable.

Jim, do you remember when Pat Robertson and his family sold CBN to Disney (Family Channel)?

CBN had been totally viewer supported for all those years but when it was sold, Pat Robertson and his family essentially pocketed the sale price.

Now, on the the Family Channel, Robertson still lobbies for donations to support his 700 Club show.

Point being...why are you acting the a-hole today on this (your) thread to some posters' sincere questions and statements?

Sheesh. The daily attack threads against Catholics was getting to be way out of bounds. Day after day, the same posters posting the same kind of garbage. It was sickening to me and I’m not Catholic. I’ve put a stop to it. If I think daily attack threads against protestants is getting out of hand I’ll address it. Right ow I don’t see it as a problem.

no, I am not for “bashing”, but I have a different take.

I think the “bashers” while claiming to be Christian and spreading all kinds of demonstrably false accusations of Catholics, were actually helping Catholics. persecution has always been good for the growth of the Faith.

the other problem is what is bashing? can someone say the Eucharist is not the Body of Christ? I disagree with that, but that is not bashing. I like engaging such people, because I want the truth out.
so I guess we will need to see how this will work out.
I hope it doesn’t prevent hard, truthful debate on either side.

It’s interesting what you say; I never go to the religious forum section but I see these threads every day. If I didn’t see them, I probably wouldn’t look for them. Is it because there are many more religious threads posted today than when I joined?

Actually, without the religious threads, esp the ones that are contentious, FR would have far less hits and Alexa standing. Often time FR comes up in my Googling for something, which is far better then HuffPo.
