Do Not Be Afraid, For Evil Cannot Withstand the Power of Jesus

Evil, no matter how powerful it seems, cannot stand. It will ultimately self-destruct and be overcome by the Light.

Some Pharisees, likely disingenuous in their motives, approach Jesus to warn him that he needs to leave immediately: Go away, leave this area because Herod wants to kill you. Jesus says simply:

Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and I perform healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I accomplish my purpose.' (Luke 13:32)

Surely Jesus has more in mind here than the next three days on the calendar. He’s obviously speaking of the Paschal mystery, of his passion, death and Resurrection. He is saying in effect, to any who would threaten to kill him, that in so doing, they serve only to undermine their own wickedness and power, and to cause him to fulfill his own purposes. There is no way that Herod—or the Pharisees, or Satan himself—can win, for in winning, they lose.

So also for all who would align themselves with the darkness rather than the Light. For no matter how deep the darkness, the dawn inevitably comes and scatters the darkness. The darkness cannot win. Scripture says, The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:5)

Evil, no matter how powerful it seems, cannot stand. It will ultimately self-destruct and be overcome by the Light. No matter how awful Good Friday seemed to those first disciples, Jesus was at that very moment accomplishing his purpose of casting out demons and bringing healing in that very act of suffering. And his apparent disappearance into death, and down into the place of the dead, was only for the purposes of turning out the Devil’s trophy room,

Thank you for this post. I am a worshipful Jew as your man Jesus was but it is important for ALL of us to remind ourselves of the direct power and weapons we carry in our hearts. In our book we say SHEMA YISRAEL ADONAI ELOHAINU ADONAI EHOD... And if spoken by one who is not a “Jew-Bu-Christian-Jews-for-Jesus-Yeshuah-etcetera” type ie. UNAPPROPRATED by bitches here on FR and elsewhere we hold this phrase has certain ancient powers. Truth be told however it seems to me whenever the Devil is confronted head-on he scurries.

In the interim people are killed daily by ISIS, we have a renegade lawless government which has no respect for the rule of law or the constitution, an EPA and other federal agencies ruining lives, entire industries, jobs across the country, in addition to making life almost impossible for the common man, not to mention an amoral new Obamacare law mandating something few can afford while the rest of the people are subject to a ruthless, and unaccountable IRS and other lawless federal agencies making laws termed “regulations” in disguise. Is that the same one you are talking about? Yet you have a response saying evil will not stand?
The evil you are talking about requires direct action, not merely a whimsical prayer. Stand up and resist, conform with your prayers and resist.

I agree with Charles here. This truth does not negate action on our part, but as those who have eternal life we do not need to fret.

Though we do not see everything under subjection to Him at this time, it is coming. With speed and finality!

I’d like to meet a real Christian soldier...getting kind of boring watching Muslims daily killing the Christians while they pray. The only way to win is to FIGHT while you are praying for God’s guidance. There is a need for a new crusade but nobody picks up the shield and spear, they continue to pray for peace and hope evil will stop itself. How long will the denial stage last? (Crickets)
