The Francis Effect Discussed in Rome Itself: The Catholic Church is Waking Up
The Remnant Newspaper ^ | 5/14/15 | Michael Matt

As Pope Francis continues his revolution against all things traditional, it is becoming clearer every day that faithful Catholics are beginning to wake up to what is really going on.

Please watch and share this video post. Father Linus Clovis fearlessly addresses the issue of Pope Francis's compromise, the need to resist, the need to stay in the Church, the need to be ready to accept martyrdom rather than back down.

Father Clovis is a priest of the Archdiocese of Castries, St. Lucia in the West Indies. He studied for the priesthood at the Angelicum in Rome and was ordained in 1983. He holds a doctorate in Mathematics and degrees in Theology, Canon Law and Latin Literature.

He is the archdiocesan spiritual director of the Legion of Mary in St. Lucia, through which he promotes devotion to Our Lady, especially that of the Rosary, the Perpetual Help novena, and the First Friday and First Saturday devotions. He's also spiritual director of the Population Research Institute and Family Life.

Please keep in mind that Father Clovis is not addressing a Traditional Catholic conference. Rather he's addressing a group of pro-lifers who had gathered together, practically in the shadow of St. Peter's on May 8, 2015, to discuss the crisis in the Church--a crisis, they argued, that starts at the very top and that now threatens to 'come out of the closet' at the upcoming Synod on the Family.

Thank God for faithful priests such as Father Clovis for having the courage to stand up and speak the truth. Thank God for the men and women who organized this much-needed conference.

It goes without saying that our friends at Gloria.TV are doing monumental work in defense of our beloved Church under siege.

I don’t know how Catholics “waking up” now would help. The Pope’s job is for life. There is no impeachment process or term limits at the Vatican. It is a little late IMHO. As always the due diligence should have been done before the Pope was selected.

The Italians hate him. I was there last summer and the Church acts worse than the communist party there.

Why would Pope Benedict turn the control of the Catholic Church over to a “social justice” Marxist heretic, Pope Francis? How do true Catholics REMOVE this mistake from the papacy? I’m polling devout Catholics on FR because I do not know of a method.

The fact the the most radical Left LOVES what this pope is doing ought to be a 150 decibel wake up call to concerned Catholics.

” As always the due diligence should have been done before the Pope was selected.”

Maybe the due diligence WAS done ...

I'm afraid many of them are radical leftists, too!

Why do they hate him?

I have not much truck with him but I’ve been to Italy many times and visit our Sicilian relatives pretty regularly and they completely ignore him - as well as the entire Vatican. Italians are not always the most devout people despite their love of the traditions.

It’s not a teaching but he just recognized a non-existent state.

We must pray harder and rest assured that the gates of hell will not prevail over Christ’s church.

I’m a Catholic. I don’t get what he’s doing. But I saw documentaries about the gay powers that be in the church and I was shocked.
But not incredibly shocked. Men on this board know the sex drive is an insane one. Marriage is the answer.
Tibetan monks seem to have no problem.
Maybe our priests should train with them first :)
seriously though, the reason priests cant marry is because the early church didn’t want to lose land to divorce. They should change this rule.

He is just the latest pope to support and encourage the changed teachings of Vatican II: religious freedom and false ecumenism.

Although Francis is Vatican II personified and the worst offender, the post Vatican II popes are all complicit.

The citizens of Italy pay huge taxes and as they do so the Catholic Church does non-church business in the billions without paying taxes.
Then there is their bank which launders money for bad people.
Then they tell everyone in Italy what to do ethically and don't touch their own wallets for anything.

The only thing that might do it is Benedict declaring that he was coerced/blackmailed into retirement and Francis to be an Antipope.

Unlikely in the extreme. And, even it, it would ultimately matter what side the Swiss Guard decides to take.

I get what he’s doing. He’s from Argentina. That should have been our first clue. They’re all socialist down there.

As for compulsory clerical celibacy. I agree it should be tossed out. A relic from the Middle Ages implemented to fight corruption in the Church. I agree the draconian policy should be discarded and there is no basis for it in the Bible.
