Ted Cruz tells The Brody File that evangelicals are the key to who is elected President of the United States in 2016. “I think evangelicals, Christians, people of faith are going to play the decisive role in the republican primary. And I think we’re going to play the decisive role in the general election in 2016.”
Cruz resonates with evangelicals but so do quite a few other candidates so it’s going to be an all-out “holy war” during GOP Primary season.
This interview was done at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition near Des Moines this past weekend.

David Brody, “ The evangelical vote…crucial. Not just in Iowa but all over the country. Here’s my question for you. If you can win a good majority of evangelicals, then what happens to your candidacy?”
Senator Ted Cruz,” I think evangelicals, Christians, people of faith are going to play the decisive role in the republican primary. And I think we’re going to play the decisive role in the general election in 2016. If you look at the last couple of elections, 2008 and 2012, sadly millions of Christians stayed home. Millions of Christians didn’t come out and vote. Is it any wonder we have the government we have today if people of faith don’t vote our values. That’s what we’ve got to do. We’ve got to energize and bring Christians back to the polls to vote and defend our values.”
Ted is counting on us to register Bible-believing Christians.
They would turn the election in his favor.
It well could be. Current political events are the equivalent of taking a baseball bat to a beehive.
Here’s hoping that everyone remembers to “Be angry, yet without sinning.” Our dear Baltimore liberals have served as object lessons how easy it is to rage and riot and get all wrought up into side issues. And there is very little energy left to try to actually make right what’s wrong, after all this sturm and drang plays out.
We also need to go to the Man at the Top (Jesus). He has an agenda that doesn’t always look a lot like the world’s, even those of the “Christian world.” His agenda is “Save Everyone Possible and Manifest It As Much As Possible Here.” It’s driven by a degree of grace that goes beyond chutzpah, forgiving much, excusing nothing.
Modern liberals have tried to walk away with this latter agenda and, I think, have succeeded so much (in spite of their ersatz idea of God) because there’s a vacuum in modern Christendom. If we wonder where the love leaked out, maybe mirrors show us part of the answer.
I think that has never changed. There hasn’t been anyone to woo them out to the polls. Ted could be the one.
We’re too busy watching the game or our favorite show, or picking up after the kids or playing Words With Friends or Candy Crush Saga. Let someone else do it.
I’m praying for God to open their eyes as to what’s going to happen if they don’t get involved.
That and talking to as many of them as I can.
Strictly speaking, it’s God, through Ted (and in principle it could be any sincerely yielding believer, but Ted has appeared to be the placed one in this picture).
Cruz. What a name. Don’t forget that it (Cruz means the cross, in Spanish) meant the sacrifice that God made for sinners who never deserved it. This was not a touch up to pretty good people, like we sometimes like to think is the character of Christian faith.
I think God’s going to virtually kick our asses to make it happen.
Expect to see some ghastly ugliness, and some amazing beauty.

Well, God kicked my ass too, pardon the French.
Oh wow, let his story tell Christ’s story. Now THAT is brave, courageous, and bold. Who’d dare to go to a cross for filthy sinners? And I don’t think he is going to get excused from trials. But, the dear good Lord willing, he will have power to pick up after every single one and come roaring on with the voice of the Lion of Judah. A voice of both great warning and great grace.
He’s pummeled me. lol. Well, that’ not true. I pummeled myself and blamed him.
God is deft about what He does with the devil (and his echo in our flesh). Even that colossal evil cannot outfox Him.
He outfoxed me though. damn. Was easier to blame God than admit the horrifying fact that I messed up a perfectly good life! oh well. I’m not dead yet :)

An interesting reference to the arrangements God made to bless countries through Jews who had gotten there by diaspora. By analogy, Christians are also thus poised. It presaged the Christian covenant.
What a great attitude.
Evangelicals are all over the board on issues just as many others. A major one is homosexual marriage. I’m not so sure this is a win.
