Rubio: I Would Attend Gay Wedding of Family Member, Friend

Although he thinks marriage should be between a man and a woman, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio says he would attend a same-sex wedding of a family member or friend to show his support for someone he cares about.

Rubio was interviewed Wednesday by Fusion's Jorge Ramos, who asked the Republican presidential candidate whether he would attend the wedding of a gay friend or co-worker if invited.

"If there's somebody that I love that's in my life, I don't necessarily have to agree with their decisions, or the decisions they've made, to continue to love them and participate in important events," Rubio answered.

The situation would be much like attending the wedding of a person who was previously divorced, which also is prohibited by his Catholic faith, he explained.

"If it's somebody in my life that I care for, of course I would" attend their wedding, Rubio said. "I'm not going to hurt them simply because I disagree with a choice they've made or because I disagree with a decision they've made, or whatever it may be."

Acting on ones sexual desires for a member of the opposite sex is a sin.

A homosexual “wedding” isn't a “sin” it's an abomination and heresy!

It's the equivalent of a satanic black mass.

The holy sacrament of matrimony is akin to a baptism.

It is the joining together of a man and woman with God.

He’s also not a homosexual. To my knowledge I don’t know that anyone I associate with is homosexual or not. I did have a sister-in-law that was but sadly she passed away a couple months ago. She was 100% against same sex marriage.

If my gaydar goes off I tend to avoid the culprit.

Marco, what if it was your loving neo-nazi, Jew & Black hating skinhead relative?

Same answer?

"If there's somebody that I love that's in my life, I don't necessarily have to agree with their decisions, or the decisions they've made, to continue to love them and participate in important events,"

>>While I disagree, with some decisions, family trumps all.<<

That's not what Christ said.

Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

You know, Marco’s the same way with other areas of his life, like immigration law. He doesn’t have to agree with it in order to “go along” with it.

Good observations. It’s a wedge question, designed to split the natural constituencies of the right. I am certain Team Cruz is watching this and evaluating a response that will keep him on message. He’s been good at that so far. The problem with your non-answer response is doubt or avoidance would be almost as good as a “wrong” answer, for the purpose of derailing his messaging. We should be praying God grants him special wisdom.

Peace,

SR

great point.

I am “almost” as dissapointed in Rubios inability to handle these type questions as I am his answer.

As you pointed out, the question was a clear “gotcha” trap.

If he had stood up for conservative principles (which he apparently doesn’t have), conservatives would have cheered, but the left would have used it has a way of labeling him a zealot. If he caved (which he did) then he alienates his base.

Ted Cruz NEVER falls for this!

He either refuses to answer all together with something along the lines of “The question at hand is not whether “I” would attend a gay wedding, but whether a fellow citizen should be forced by law to attend such an event!”

Or when the issue is more clear cut, he takes a strong conservative stand and is willing and able to defend his stand.

Rubio is proving himself to be not up to the task on multiple levels.

I am afraid that I would throw up all over the place when the “you may kiss” part happens.

“It’s “forbidden” for a Catholic to attend a Protestant service? Thats just not true.”

Agreed. I attend both, but never partake of the Protestant communion, which is offered as a symbol only. I enjoy being with all who worship our Lord and Savior.

Any “man” who would happily go see two fags celebrate their perversion probably has some closet tendencies himself.

Certainly just made the primary voting a little bit easier for me.

I’m hoping we get a moment during the debates where the moderator asks the panel to raise their hands if they’d go to a sex-sex “wedding.” This would be a chance for Cruz (and other conservatives) to pull the party back to the right position.

Ted Cruz didn’t need or benefit from Rubio, all he needed was Governor Palin and the tea party.

Jesus didn’t attend formal ceremonies of sin.

The Senator would not be attending a gay wedding to convert them like walking into a gay bar to preach the word and to engage them, but to honor their mockery of marriage and to participate in their formal ceremony.

No, family doesn’t trump all, that is ridiculous, do you think that Senator Rubio would attend his family member being promoted to Grand KKK Wizard ceremony?

Would he attend a polygamy wedding, or a Satanic wedding?

“In an interview in 2012, Rubio said: “I’m a Roman Catholic. I’m theologically in line with the Roman Catholic Church. I believe in the authority of the church, but I also have tremendous respect for my brothers and sisters in other Christian faiths. I recognize, as the Catholic Church does, that there are excellent teachings of the Word throughout other denominations. The elements of salvation are found in these churches as well.””

Rubio is a lukewarm Catholic. Going to a protestant church when there’s a Catholic Church available is not permitted by the Church. A Catholic can attend a protestant faith on special occasions like a funeral or marriage but can not go to protestant service in lieu of Mass.
