I instinctively give my finger to anyone who gets annoyed at a word, term, or idiom. It makes me want to find ways to say it. Who lets them decide what is ok to say? Go away.

I’m a technical trainer, and very often an adult student will raise their hand and say “Can/May I ask you a question?”
I can’t help but to laugh at this, as it IS a question. So I’ll say “You just did,” and pretend to move on. After that, I always tell them, “If you have a question, just ask it. This class/course will teach you nothing if you don’t aks questions that you have! By all means, ask! I might not know the answer, but if not, I’ll strive to find someone who does, or at least get as close to an answer as I can.”
I just find it funny because it happens all the time.

Absolutely? Let’s talk about the ONLY adjective anyone knows anymore: amazing. I swear I counted 100 ‘amazings’ in one afternoon of tv viewing. EVERYTHING is ‘amazing’: food, clothes, weather, people, rocks, wind... I’m sorry, but I’m not that easily amazed-and I pity the morons who are amazed by a purse, or the way someone makes soup, or coffeepots. If I could, I strike everyone who says ‘amazing’ more than once dumb for at least 24 hrs.

Lets talk about the ONLY adjective anyone knows anymore: amazingI am guilty of that and have been making a concerted effort to find other words to use.

After getting this done, can we call out the moronic use of the word “So” to begin every answer to any questions?

So, THATs been my problem all these years. THERE you went and pushed my button by beginning a sentence with "so." Why has that replaced the good and reliable "uh"?

Also baffled has been overused in news stories.I like that word when used as "If you cannot dazzle them with brilliance, then baffle them with BS." (but say it not spell it.
The alliteration and internal rhyme is absolutely spot on. :)

“Uh” really annoys me. I prefer “um”.

It quite vexes me when friends shout out “Odds Bodkins!” Tis much over used.

I am absitively-posolutely glad to enjoy this thread with you!
How about a "totally" annoying phrase?
"You RC's..." It just wouldn't be a forum without it! God bless you! : )
