Prayer for Our American Heroes and Nation

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

PRECIOUS SAVIOR, we come to YOU with longings in our hearts. We know, LORD, that YOU tell us not to be troubled and not to be afraid...and we ask for YOUR help. We look upon this world, we see our government making choices that affect our nation in such devastating ways, we see these choices that have potential to bring harm’s way to our Beloved Heroes, and to add to that, we see leaders insight violence in the name of justice, and we cringe. JESUS, help us to cling to YOU instead.

LORD, this world is not our home. YOU have promised us that now, even now, YOU are preparing a place for us that is far beyond our ability to even comprehend. So LORD, we ask that the PEACE of GOD that goes beyond our understanding will GUIDE OUR HEARTS AND MINDS as we continue to TRUST and to pray for our American Heroes and Nation. AMEN.

Dear LORD, how we thank YOU that YOU PRAYED FOR us, ever reminding us that we are in the world but not of it. LORD, teach us to pray for our leaders, guide us with discerning hearts for the next election, quiet our anger and frustration so that instead of creating turmoil within us, it can be transformed into opportunities to TRUST and SEE YOUR GOODNESS and GLORY. LORD, give us patient assurance as we see the day draw near.

And LORD, as always, we cannot speak the word “Shalom” without remembering Jerusalem. We pray for the Peace of Jerusalem. Thank YOU LORD GOD, for reminding us that YOU ARE THE GOD that does not change. That all who put their trust in YOU will not be ashamed, disappointed, dismayed, or abandoned. We LOVE YOU. Amen.
