The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not mans standard.

You must do good works of faith, self denial and love.
Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
John 6:28-29
Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?
Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."
1 John 3:21-23
Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.
And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.
James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Yes. Like starting your idiotic "reformation" and forgetting what the Holy Scripture teaches. I guess the Catholic COUNTERreformation was about RE-LEARNING what the bible teaches.

>>I know Who I got it from.<<
But you're afraid to reveal it or what? She simply asked you to show proof that the traditions you believe in actually came from the apostles. That shouldn't be too difficult should it?

That may be true also, but the verses in focus deal with the words of Christ about His physical body. You physical vipers!!!

You need to educate Strong, Thayer and the others as to what the true definition of the word is. Obviously your argument is with them, not me. Surely they would benefit from your corrections.

My complaint was that you presumed to place Springfield Reformer and I into the "pledged to the Reformers" box and concluded, wrongly, that since I made a passing reference to Martin Luther, I was pledged to him, too. Here's what you said: False; post 3517 was not addressed to you. You just came in uninvited, so to speak, in post 3758, using "we" and speaking as a team. Does that make you a Reformed Baptist too? Own your words.
You accused me of making up the term FRoman Catholic and I told you why I didn't. Sheesh! Do you argue with relatives in this manner, nitpicking words, majoring on the minor, avoiding talking about the point? It's a crummy way of having a discussion.
False, I never wrote what you claim, that you made up the label. I demonstrated the hypocrisy about complaining of labels while using one of your own choosing. I attempt to be accurate but a lot of people will not reveal their true affiliations, which is often symptomatic of cults or borderline sects that twist or deny a tenet of Orthodox Christianity that may get them booted from an antiCatholic alliance.

The verses in focus deal with both the physical body and His body of believers. To deny this, you must wrest them from the center of the section and try to make them stand in isolation. Never good hermeneutics.

The funniest things to me are: 1)They whine that the apostles and prophets had no degrees, yet they forget they were given the information directly by either Christ Himself, or the prompting of the Holy Spirit. None of which applies to any of them. I find this a common characteristic of zealous brethren who are learning the scriptures. One tonic is where Peter tells us to add to our faith, virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; and to knowledge, temperance; and to temperance, patience; and to patience, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness.
2) They are convinced that Paul and or some of the Apostles set the Canon of the OT.I think a large part of the issue is a predetermined faith in the doctrine of Sola Scriptura. Once locked into that, there are problems; larger to me is the inability if nonCatholics to settle on a Greek version if the New books, let alone the Old books or an English translation of either. Catholics do not face this doctrinal dilemma.
A friend o f mine keeps telling me: You can't fix red or stupid.
That seems wrong to me. We can all be stupid. The parable of the Ten Virgins lies before us. With God all things are possible, and by His grace we can avoid being stupid, foolish, or ashamed at His coming. Any of us can stumble and fall; God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble, and we all need grace. Sola Gracie.

LOL. Those who stray from the Catholic faith also stray from common sense or common courtesy. Thank you for noticing. The whole protestant/ stupid for Jesus thing is really sad.
