The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not mans standard.
And reading just this board and catholic comments shows how incorrect your statement is! LOL!!!
LOL not so wordy now huh?
Just typical ad homnohymms
Thanks for posting such good examples!
Don’t read my tagline...
I understand exactly what he is saying, prots keep posting these false dichotomies. It is you all that need to realize your errors.
Reminds me of Edith Ann in the giant chair giving everyone a raspberry...LOL
Nope....the only identified ordained catholic priest on the board who represents the catholic church said: The entire Gospel of John uses a system of symbols. Each action of Jesus--feeding the multitude, turning water into wine, being sacrificed in the manner of the Passover Lamb, giving Mary to John as his mother--is used by John as a sign of a greater or spiritual reality.
The entire Gospel of John uses a system of symbols....his words....not mine.
The implications are huge.
Yes, many Edith Anns here.
They have changed the attributes of the humble handmaid of the Lord, Mary.
Why not hijack the Holy Spirit? What gall!
“Thank you, BTW I inadvertently left your name off when I said that AMPU was a protestant that was capable of intelligent discussion. My apologies for that oversight.”
There are a number of people on this thread and others that go deeper than how they were “rotely” instructed. I try to be one.
There are a number of people who go beyond a repetition of the same arguments the centuries have seen. I try to be one.
There are a number of people who don’t see each other as enemies. I try to be one.
And of course, I fail at times.
In the end, I don’t care where people worship. I only care that they come to entrust themselves wholly to Christ alone for eternal life. He is capable of directing His own to where they should be worshiping.
Best.
I've never known anyone who bowed to a statue....perhaps honors the person that the statue represents, but not to the concrete form itself.
The Eucharist is, indeed, a different matter. I paid real close attention to the Biblical passage where Christ Himself said "THIS IS MY BODY" and I took Him literally as did ALL OF CHRISTIANITY before the revolution.
I figure that if it is indeed His Body, I probably should bow to it....so I do.
I guess you ended up bearing the brunt of my cumulative frustration with other people, not you, Syncro, personally.
My impatience gets the better of me. It is a weakness of mine, and I apologize for that.
That is precisely correct.
As you continue your faith journey remember only one thing about Catholicism if you forget the rest: We are taught, "Jesus isn't the most important thing. He is everything." And that's not mistyped.
That is authentic Catholic dogma, despite what others maintain.
I will pray for you tomorrow during my daily prayers.
Merry Christmas!
At great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. She gave birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron scepter. And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.Mary is the Queen of Heaven because she is the Queen Mother, or mother of the King of the eternal, redeemed Davidic Kingdom, as recorded in the Bible.
It has never, in your experience or in mine, meant exclusively "adoration," not even in church.
To insist on interpreting it as "adoration" or even "idolatry" when it has been explained to you that it was not, leaves you without a proper understanding and damages communication.
That is why I must continue trying to give a more accurate understanding --- in the hope that perhaps somebody out there wants to understand.
No problem Mrs. Don-o, no offence taken.
I imagine there were others on the thread that wanted to read what you writ to me.
Happy New Year!
A Happy "Fifth Day of Christmas"...
and a Happy New Year to you, too!
Tagline
Oh we do indeed consume the Body and Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Christ in the Eucharist. The Host is removed from the monstrance immediately after the ceremony or period of adoration designated and either consumed by the priest or returned to the Tabernacle.
Thank you!
We were always at peace AFAIC.
Seeing it was your teaching spirit that caused you to address me the way you did earlier and a bit of mistaken idenity, I apologize for my “condescending” remark as it was an innocent little statement of yours to help out.
Sentence structure and maudlinness, sorry lol
and present BODILY in every Catholic church in the world....amazing, isn't it?...!!!!!
That is authentic Catholic dogma, despite what others maintain.
It may be catholic....but not Christian.
fairly true, but it is more often that not indicative of something. Islam is spread through force and violence and thus loses most of its' importance. Christianity, on the other hand, was spread through the years by acts of love and consideration, by education and teaching the true meaning of the Scriptures. The Doctrines taught throughout the 2,015 year history of the Catholic church have been proven over and over to be true and infallible. Most Christians believe them, some have chosen to adapt their own interpretations to what the church teaches....they do so at their own peril and,of course, are responsible, along with those who led them astray, for their own fate.
