It’s current events in religion...so that’s why I put it in the RF. I guess it could be in both.

My guess is that there was no mention of Jesus Christ as the only way to God, would offend the Muslims.

Whenever you put it in religion you put everyone at risk of being banned by the religion moderators. The religion moderators do not tolerate ideas that differ from theirs.

....”Christian-Muslim understanding”...

There is none...they are diametrically opposites no matter how much the Pope “leads” his flock into that abis.

God makes it clear...”Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?”..2 Cor. 6:14

Unless of course the Catholic church is in their own darkness....which is likely...if not altogether apparent to many.

My experience is different here. And I’m pretty sure my ideas don’t coincide with the RM’s.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Frances got blown up while outreaching to the Musloids?

Did the Apostles do “outreach” or did they preach Jesus Christ as the way, the truth and the life?

If the Pope is in Istanbul and facing east, he would figuratively be looking at Samarkand, then beyond to Beijing, then further beyond to Morioka. To face Mecca, he would have to look SSE. Of course, it's Yahoo! News, so they may have gotten the compass direction wrong.

As much as I have issues with that man, I do not want that to happen.

which heading did you click when you posted it? news and current events?

I ask as I may have something to offer that would work under current events but maybe not so much if the thread was posting under “religion”

The early Church was looking towards the East as well and a visio of a man from Macedonia moved the church to the West.
The Pope should be aware of it

I hate to say it, but the Pope prayed in silence because anything else would offend the Muslims—unless he converted on the spot.

But when the Imams visit a Catholic Church, they never hesitate to come out with “There is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is his Prophet!”

Not exactly a fair exchange.

I checked the map too. But, the common saying is, “facing east to Mecca” so I assumed that the fools from Yahoo News would assume that east always points to Mecca.

Did he make the sign of the cross when praying, the Muslims I am sure are offended by the cross and the victory over sin accomplished there.
