Are you saying it’s impossible - would never happen ever under any circumstances?

Does it really make sense that one time mumbling “Yeah, Jesus Christ, my personal Lord and Savior, whatever” forgives any and all sins, no matter how depraved?

If that’s the case, why did not Jesus Christ say “Forget the 10 Commandments, this is a New Covenant, accept Me as your Personal Lord and Savior, and then you’re free to do whatever you want with no adverse consequences”?

I've never heard anyone make that claim...Is that what your religion teaches you that we believe???

You've never really read the bible, have you??? What a pity...

The poster said it is Catholic teaching that the only unforgivable sin is suicide (because the sinner is dead, and thus unable to repent).

All other sins can be forgiven.

No, that's what many Protestant posters on FR teach me you (plural) believe.

Nope...this is what the poster said.

"Didn’t she lose her salvation by taking her own life? Denying God’s will? A sin of the Holy Spirit that is unforgivable either in the Confessional or by God."

The denial of God's will encompasses all sin. When we sin we go against God's will. Hence, based on catholic teaching, no sins are forgivable as all sins are against God's will.

No, the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church is that any sin that is repented/confessed is forgiven.

‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained’” (John 20:21–23).

Eph. 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Not by works, lest any man should boast.”

Whenever this hot topic comes up I’m always reminded of the thief on the cross.

You are spreading a works based false gospel, much like John MacAurther does. No where in scripture does it ever mention “Lordship Salvation” “Sinner’s Prayer” or “Alter Calls”...these are all Man Made and driven to force authority over believers to comply and bow before Men allowing them to rule over you and not God. God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit have been excused in the majority of churches today, only to be replaced by worldly objects of desire. bands, lighting, stage props, personal ministries etc...there are only two things God has commissioned and commanded of us to do...give the gospel message and love each other...

Many are followers of Men and their Doctrine. Many are being deceived by following popular stage preachers and their disingenuous practices, law and motives or agenda i. Today we read all kinds of stories of rich and famous stage preachers and how well they are being provided for while there flock suffers...How very sad...We never hear of the Apostles or Jesus living large

Perhaps there was a time in Brittany’s life where she was introduced to Jesus and the gospel and rejected it leading her down a path of being easily influenced to the like of orgs like CC

Let’s face it..Christian’s have a poor reputation dating way back...Isn’t it about time we got it right??

Last time I checked Christ died for all sins.

Did He die for unrepented sins?

Did He allow the Romans to flay the skin from His back, nail Him to a board, and break His legs so that you can do whatever the heck you want to, with no fear of any adverse consequences?

I don’t think you’ll find a Christian would advocate what you’re suggesting. If you love Christ you will follow Him and keep His Word. Will you fail sometimes? You bet. And Christ knows that. It’s why His blood is sufficient for all of our sins.

Nice dodge of the question.

Did Jesus’ sacrifice atone for unrepented sins?

Nice dodge of the question.

Did Jesus’ sacrifice atone for unrepented sins?

Scenario:

You tell a little lie at the office. Later that day you die of a massive heart attack without benefit of visiting the priest to seek his forgiveness of your sins.

You die with an unconfessed sin.....do you go to Heaven or Hell?

When one becomes a Christian, all sins are forgiven...past, present and future.

Do we confess our sins to Christ on a regular basis? Yes we do. But it's not to maintain salvation. That was taken care of on the cross and when the Christian believed in Christ. It is to maintain fellowship with Him.

Colossians 2:9-14 NASB

For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,

10and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.

11In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh was put off when you were circumcised by Christ,

12having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.

13When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,

14having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.

This is the security of the believer.

If not, the Believer would live in a state of fear of dying without benefit of confession. If one is catholic, you'd have to be living with the priest to constantly be asking for forgiveness. That's not what Christ intended for us with His sacrifice on the Cross.

Unconfessed mortal sin - Hell. Unconfessed venial sin - Purgatory, then Heaven.

More false teaching from catholicism.

if that is what catholics really believe they better get to confession and stay there. the more I study catholicism I see it is a system of control and fear that is not supported by Scripture.

Christ did not intend for His children to live in constant fear or doubt of their eternity.

I pray you come to find the comfort of Christ and the promise of eternal life He freely offers to all who will believe in Him.

“For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.” James 2:10

The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29

I'll repost the verses from Colossians that more than adequately deal with this.

Col 2:12-14

12having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.
