Pope Francis on Sunday closed an assembly of Catholic bishops that revealed deep divisions on how to reach out to homosexuals and divorced people, saying the Church should not be afraid of change and new challenges.
Francis, who has said he wants a more merciful and less rigid Church, made his comments in a sermon to some 70,000 people in St. Peter's Square for the ceremonial closing of a two-week assembly, known as a synod.
"God is not afraid of new things. That is why he is continuously surprising us, opening our hearts and guiding us in unexpected ways," he said.

Fun fun fun.
A “pope” who seems intent on destroying Catholicism.
Pass the popcorn.
>>>This not only shoots down those bad ideas, but exposes those who advocated them.

I always thought of the Church as akin to the Marines.>>>>>>>
Just a few good men.
What’s to change?
Strange how the Catholic Church deems itself inerrant and final authority, yet dramatically changes is position many times.
“Gay people are welcome at Mass”
Gay people are welcome at Mass now.
Sounds like we’ve got a “living and breathing” Holy Bible now to go along with The Ten Suggestions (Stolen from Ted Koppel). If the sinners are going to write the rules, what’s the use?
ROFL....try sex abuse, instead! You'll need redder meat than this for flamebait.
All the articles critical of the Pope are being posted by Catholics!!
You've lost your job!
Remarried divorced Catholics can receive communion whenever they want. Gay people are welcome at Mass. There isnt a state of grace scanner in churches. What these forces want is to be told that sin is not sin and for all the faithful to concur.
“This Pope scares me so much!”
You shouldn’t be scared. Your salvation comes from Jesus & Jesus alone. Not any man, woman or church. Stick with the Bible & don’t be afraid to venture to another place of worship. As Christians come under increased persecution, we’ll have to change our meeting venues anyway.
“Gay people are welcome at Mass now.”
But not as the Priest’s husband/wife!
That would explain the lack of funds in my checking account.
I don’t think that’s what the Pope said.
He sits in Peter’s chair.
I put my trust in the Holy Spirit. He is my Pope.
Vatican II brought a change that I am still not accustomed to.
"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." - Hebrews 13:8
So what did your boy say?
The old man can’t change Catholic doctrine anymore than I can. And neither can any of the bishops. If he gets too uppity for his britches he’ll be replaced. It’s happened before.
“God is not afraid of new things? Like, accepting the practice of homosexuality? God is unchanging”.
Impossible. Catholic Doctrine can not change. You can not change what is already established doctrine and the pope knows this. It’s been tried before in the last 2,000 years. The Pope’s is to safeguard the truth of the doctrine, he knows this and for this pope it’s driving him crazy.
I like this article better from the link.

The fact of the matter is that the majority of synod fathers understood that their primary purpose is to speak clearly to the faithful and to the world about the unchanging teachings of the Catholic faith. Their main job is not to bring about a major change in doctrine or moral teaching. They do not have that power since they are the guardians of the faith that has been once delivered to the saints. They know they cannot change the core teachings even if they want to.
“......secular journalists too often have not troubled themselves to understand the Catholic faith. We do not believe that these core teachings are simply something somebody made up long ago because that was then and this is now. We do not believe that our core doctrines are simply the result of various historical circumstances and cultural conditions and that they can therefore be changed according to other historical circumstances and cultural conditions”
“But not as the Priests husband/wife”
You mean like they can in some protestant faiths?
