Many people are understandably dismayed by the the Supreme Court's refusal to hear several gay marriage cases effectively codifying gay marriage in several states.
While it is certainly disappointing, it isn't really unexpected.
I hate to break this news to you, especially if you are one of these people who think that this country, a country founded with limited government, separation of powers, and federalism, is still recoverable by normal means, it isn't.
The U.S. as we knew it and understood it is gone and it isn't coming back, at least not by regular constitutional means. Nope.
Federalism, limited government, checks and balances, all gone. We now have a rapidly increasing federal behemoth with unlimited powers granted to itself rapidly centralizing power in the person of the president (I don't say office, but person). All of which is hell bent on running every part of your life including your morality, all aided and abetted by an unelected black-robed oligarchy.
You can elect all the Republicans you want, do you really think they will change anything? Not a chance.
Nope the U.S. is done. And you know what? That may be a good thing. Such government, even one founded on the principles of limited constitutional powers and federalism, can only work for a people for whom Christ is their King. That isn't us.
I don't know where we go from here, but I suspect that it is bad. I continue to believe I have a moral obligation to behave in a lawful way, but I no longer consider myself bound in loyalty to a government that has has moved beyond the powers granted to it. Morality, decency, and legitimate freedom will not be restored to Americans through election, it will take other means. I believe the world will undergo a crisis incomprehensible to most and what will emerge from the other side is a different people. That different people will choose a different government.
Until then, we have chosen tyranny and tyranny is what we will get.
ping
I feel the same way.
See you in the catacombs. I will bring the beer.
I answer to no one but Christ, thanks.
True!
Used to be argued that "at least" Repubs drove the train more slowly over the cliff. Those days are gone, too.
LOL so Christ told you personally not to ping me when you talk about me?
I’ll be sure to ping you whenever I deem it appropriate. Thanks.
And I'll continue to respond however I deem appropriate.
I agree, the supremes decision was probably the last straw to break the camels back. One thing I picked up in this article, the author seems bent on making what he says a self fulfilling prophecy.
He basically says, “its all gone now, no need to vote, it wont do you any good. No diff between Repubs and Dems.” Riiight, by his not voting, and everybody that follows his advise, it assures that his prophecy will come to pass in spades, we’ll surely have Hillary our next overlord.
Will he even vote? He doesn’t say. He certainly implies that he wont, he stops short of saying it outright.
I don’t care what this guy says, I’m not going to help him get Hillary his president. I will do as I have always done, vote for the most conservative option possible.
Can somebody like Ted Cruz turn it all around? If some crazy doesn’t shoot him, I’m sure he’d give it his best shot. Whether he can or not, nobody better get in between me and the voting booth! I have no intention of helping vindicate the author of this article.
I believe that our government will fall...but the nation will not. Out nation cannot be renewed with the government as it presently is.
Alex, have you noticed a kind of Catholic monarchist undertone by some in this thread? Somebody even suggesting a “benevolent” Catholic monarchy our only hope. For that reason, does there exist in the hearts of some Catholics a hope that hated protestant America does go down? Since B-chan, a Catholic and the author of the piece, is gone, we can’t ask him.
“Benevolent” my eye. If history is our guide...
The nation as our Founders envisioned it...with citizens UNDER GOD. Without God, there will be no nation. Without God, we are doomed....and yet with all that has happened and continues to happen, our nation has NOT yet really turned back to God.
Did we give up after the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell No!
But right now this us not the worst of our problems.
I pray for the USA. May she rise again.
Agreed.
Individual Americans are desiring to live in that Beautiful City on a Hill that is the USA. But as a unified Nation of civilized people dedicated publicly to living lawfully and peacefully with one another under the benevolent protection and blessings of Providence, as some chose to call God Almighty back then, well, I hope my wife and children and their children live to see it restored and maintained.
America has been and is the best Nation this world has ever seen in almost every way that pertains to fruitful life and liberty for all its citizens. My Dad said it was true and I say it’s true. None greater!
But I’m now looking toward a far better city and country than any people on this earth so far have come close to achieving. And it shall come about on this temporal plane and without undue delay under the direct supervision of the ruling Lord Jesus Christ and all of His saints with Him.
First, I’m told by a Reliable Source, there’s a good deal of trouble headed our way.
LOL have you noticed how some will scatter to the four winds when asked their stance on benevolent dictatorships?
Thanks for the link.
In post 27, the FR thread “the USA should be a benevolent Catholic dictatorship” was made reference to.
I notice that I did make a small error, it said, “a benevolent Catholic dictatorship” instead of a benevolent Catholic monarchy.
Either way, not a happy prospect. Benevolent my eye.
