What you mention is precisely why the Framers and Founders of the USA chose the wording they chose in many instances and is the main outcome they were very intent on preventing, if possible.

In post 27, the FR thread “the USA should be a benevolent Catholic dictatorship” was made reference to.

I notice that I did make a small error, it said, “a benevolent Catholic dictatorship” instead of a benevolent Catholic monarchy.

Either way, not a happy prospect. Benevolent my eye.
