Yep.

It is a way to construct a rite to give meaning to those who give money. As Martin Luther said "give a little more so Granny can get out of Purgatory early." Indulgences?...right?

Perhaps it is true...or not.

I don't blame the Catholic Church...this is the way humans operate.

But Jesus never spoke of Purgatory. That is a Catholic invention to raise money for the Crusades (and frankly the Crusades were a good cause).

But Jesus never spoke of it as a material matter.

However, He did speak of repentance and dying and giving one's life to Him. Rebirth as it were in the Holy Spirit.

King James was a notorious sodomite, so we know what he really thought about the word of God.

Aside from the fact that there is no proof for that, what about these guys that the Catholic church is forced to own?

The Banquet of Chestnuts and the Borgias?

Of these lists?

And the greco roman latin world is a slave market...

We can all be free... but coming out of her is a first step..

Thankfully, we need not be a part of her to love and worship the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the finished work of His only beloved Son Yahshua..

The pope gregory calendar is just a continuation of the sun based Julian calendar..

It ignores 2/3 of the timekeeping our Creator gave us.

The moon and stars were ordained by Him and are in the sky for timekeeping.

The Greco roman Latin world is not interested in the moon or stars for timekeeping.
The Greco roman Latin world is not interested in the New Moons, Sabbaths and feasts either.

One cannot find the New Moon on the world’s calendar, but according to Scripture, the Messiah was born on a particular New Moon Day on our Father’s calendar.

Also, according to Scripture, those New Moons began months. And they started the weekly counts to the Sabbaths and Feasts.

Who wins by hiding new Moons, Sabbaths and Feasts in scripture that are found using the sun, moon and stars?

Who wins by inventing new holy days, sabbaths and feasts based upon the sun?

We know Who wins in the end.. But it doesn’t say the enemy goes quietly.. it says he deceives the whole world..

Yesterday on our Heavenly Father’s calendar, it was His seventh day Sabbath, the 15th day of His 5th month.
Today is the 16th day, the first day of His week (just like the 16th day that the Messiah rose from the grave after the 15th day High Sabbath in the first month)
This is called Thor’s day at least in the English speaking Greco roman latin led world..
It too is a ‘work day’ but so was yesterday while scripture calls that a Holy Day.
Thor gets his day every week.

The world can hide His days all it wants now..believers in His Word can discount them as Jewish or done away with..
They are a confirmation and commemoration of His Creative and Redemptive Works to me..

And knowing why Israel was called to do some things they don’t even understand is a blessing that the world calendar cant provide..

When our Heavenly Father finally gets His ‘Day’ of YHWH, it will not be a day the world will be able to hide..

I pray believers see the world for what it is- a counterfeit..

I fear believing, teaching and worshipping counterfeits/lies will be a redemptive issue..
And obviously lots of protestants believe that too because they have that premise with the mother church- trying to show them the truth of scripture.. but one not involved in either anymore can do the same but it is a little less comfortable for Protestants because they are only used to standing against the mother, not having to defend her...

if one cannot purchase things with counterfeit money without it being stealing, what if we are trying to be redeemed with a counterfeit savior?

One that looks like the real deal but when the rubber meets the road, is full of lies that don’t lead to Truth?

If the mother is in danger, I see the daughters on the same path..for what they share, not what they argue about..

And I didn’t two years ago...but two years ago, I was a slave to the world..

HalleluYah

“Transubstantiation was a later invention, coming in around the 9th Century, and taking full form in Aquinas. But it is pure sophistry, a way to get people to disbelieve the eyes God gave them, and thereby invest the wrong idea of spiritual power in the priesthood, which priesthood should have ceased after Christ became our only High Priest, offering Himself once for all, and declaring the work finished as He died for our sins.”

Good post. The add-ons to the ONCE FOR ALL SACRIFICE of our Lord Jesus Christ are the “death in the pot” we have to be wary of, the leaven of which just a smidgen “works through the whole batch of dough”, nullifying grace. Rome opened the door through “tradition”, and have created their own bastardized version of the Levitical priesthood. Nice work if you can get it! “They love to be seen of men.” And the laity love to have someone ELSE speak to God, mediate to them His dreadful voice! How absolutely unnecessary!

It’s very hard to deal with those who refuse to accept the free gift of God. I get angry because behind every add-on is a slander against Christ. Currently I’m dealing with a relative who’s veered of into the Hebrew Roots/Sacred Name movement, which goes in the opposite direction of Rome. I reject both systems, as well as much of “Protestantism”. If Luther “came to” while reading Romans—“Oh the depths of the riches of the wisdom and power of a God” found there!—then let’s READ ROMANS!!! Instead of “reformation” I say it was really a “reconnection” to God-breathed Truth.

It is a fact that the fullness of the faith, and all Truth (Jesus Christ and all He taught) can only be found in the Church which Jesus Himself began, which is the Catholic Church.

Again, our separated brethren do not have the fullness of the Faith. They have, for various reasons, selected some truth, rejected some truth, and misinterpreted some truth.

I’ll light a candle at Mass for the lost flock.

Yes, Hebrew Roots errors are ramping up at the moment. Every evangelical Christian should prepare for such encounters. I believe they will increase for a while. In time, though, the more distant future will vindicate those of us who stayed with the plain old Gospel.

As for relatives, mine are interesting. The Roman Catholic wing is up in the Chicago area. They’ve adopted abortion as a right, not just theoretically, but in practice. They’ve also identified with communism and radical feminism. The feminist angle is interesting, because they project it onto their view of Mary, alleging her to be co-redemptrix with Christ, because we can’t have a patriarchal deity. Very bizarre.

Note to my RC friends here on FR. I try not to generalize from the extremes. I know not all Catholics are like my relatives. But when folks get on their hobby horse about having a denominational monopoly on God, these relatives jump right to the foreground and make me wonder what kind of Christian church would fail to discipline them for such egregious departure from the faith once delivered to the saints. Surely if it is God’s work, it will carry His fingerprints, changed lives that honor Christ and hunger for His word and His righteousness.

Anyway, good post, though I would say the candle of Christian truth has never gone out, though it may have occasionally been harder to find due to persecution and unpopularity in the world system. God is faithful.

Peace,

SR

Too bad that weeks do not accurately track new moons; with the Moon taking 27.32 days to complete and orbit.

The Muslims do a MUCH better job at figuring THIS out.

The sun, moon and stars were given to us for signs, seasons(appointed times) days and years.

Sun worshippers only use the sun... that is exactly what is done with your pope Gregory calendar..

The New Moon started a Month- that is why the Hebrew word for month and new moon is the same thing.. (chodesh, hodesh)

Ezekiel 46:1
Day 1 of months.New moon day
2-7. Work days
8. Sabbath
9-14. Work days
15. Sabbath- feast of unelavened bread and tabernacles start on this day
16-21. Work days
22. Sabbath- this was the first sabbath after 6 days of manna in exodus
23-28. Work days
29. Sabbath

It is a four week cycle that begins with every new moon. And it is why we can see that new moons could be predicted before they occurred, like with David and Saul. and why the continuous seven days through time is actually unscriptural..

Those new moons is why the battle of Jericho didn’t violate the sabbath commandment.
According to the book of Jasher, referenced in Holy Scripture,
The battle march began on a new moon and ended on the 7th day of the month- a day before their weekly Sabbath.

That cannot be done with your pope Gregory sabbath..or the Julian.. or the Jewish calculated calendars..

If scripture is our guide, The Messiah was born on a New Moon Day(revelation 12)
Following the template in Ezekiel,
That makes Him being circumscised on a Sabbath.(8th day)
Dedicated to the temple on a Sabbath.(40 days after his mother’s purification)
Baptized on a new Moon.(His 30th birthday)

Add those to His death on a Feast, burial and rest on a Feast (Passover)and High Sabbath (unleavened bread- 15th) and His Resurrection on a Feast. (First fruits-16)

That pretty much sums up His major life events recorded in scripture and they follow Torah,

Man, somebody thought those new moons, sabbaths and feasts had significance. Maybe that is why Israel was supposed to observe them. they pointed to the future King and the Kingdom...

And I have been observing this calendar and there is at least 29 days in each month, not 27 days like you note with Muslims.. of one counts, you never end with 27.. there are either 29 or 30 days on His calendar.. never 28, never 31..

The muslims do at least seek out the moon as their timepiece.
So does Israel for two months- the month with passover and the month with tabernacles- their feast months...

Funny, Israel tries to observe scripture for at least a couple months.. it isn’t surprising they are off by a month or two with their celebrations..

But that is why scripture says He ordained the stars.. everything up there is for us.. may be just pretty lights but they tell a story... and contains a plan..

The world is welcome to ignore the moon and stars for timekeeping.. sun worship is not new.,. It is very, very old.. His scripture says new moons and Sabbaths will be around for awhile so it may not be a good strategy to poo poo them(Isaiah 66)

Thor’s day is a sexier name than the first day, we must admit.

One points to Thor.. one points to the First day...

If you can tell me what scripture says happened on thor’s day, I would confess that the world system is the standard..

If we can find something, anything that happened on the first day, would anyone confess that the world system, although the standard, is just a counterfeit?

Maybe conformity means something different to different people.. and that is why there are hundreds of daughters who claim to be the truth.. or at least not their mother...
